Electric Exhaust Valve
- a valve through which burned gases from a cylinder escape into the exhaust manifold
- A poppet valve is a valve consisting of a hole, usually round or oval, and a tapered plug, usually a disk shape on the end of a shaft also called a valve stem. The shaft guides the plug portion by sliding through a valve guide.
- (Exhaust valves) In the combustion process, these valves control the flow of the burnt air/fuel mixture to leave the engine and emerge into the atmosphere.

Maybach Vs English Electric
Two exhaust valves compared in size. The one on the left is a Maybach valve originally fitted in D1015 & the one on the right is an English Electric valve originally fitted to 50031. The heavy carbon deposits can still be seen on the Maybach example where as the English Electric example has been cleaned. Both valves are slightly bent which is why they were changed out from the cylinder heads on their respective power units. The 50p piece is to aid the appreciation of the sizes of the valves.
