brake van
FHG class brake van, a recent arrival at Goulburn roundhouse,, and for eventual restoration. The FHG vans were a fairly modern steel van, built in the 1960s, and jobless when brake vans were removed from trains in the 1980s.
Officially and amongst railway workers on the NSW railways, they were known as brake vans. The general public called them guards vans, and so did some of the other Australian railway systems. Although most Aussies also knew the term "caboose", this term was almost never used for brake/guards vans.
Brake bleeder
The brake bleeder looks a bit crusty. I don't want to brake or strip with using only a 8mm wrench. Any ideas? Heat ok?
