ASHLEY FURNITURE HEADQUARTERS

The United Nations Headquarters was completed in 1950, designed in a collaborative effort among a multinational team of architects, lead by the American Wallace Harrison. The team included: N.D. Bassov of the Soviet Union, Gaston Brunfaut (Belgium), Ernest Cormier (Canada), Le Corbusier (France/Switzerland), Liang Ssu-cheng (China), Sven Markelius (Sweden), Oscar Niemeyer (Brazil), Howard Robertson (United Kingdom), G.A. Soilleux (Australia), and Julio Villamajo (Uruguay).

The final design based on ideas of Niemeyer and Corbusier included a modernist high-rise to be built to house the secretariat and a sweeping horizontal structure that included the General Assembly and other meeting chambers. In front of the complex are the flags of the 192 member nations and the flag of the United Nations, flown in English alphabetical order.

To the north of the complex is a sculpture garden, housing gifts of artwork given to the United Nations by its member states.

The Headquarters of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is located in the heart of Durant. It was originally the Oklahoma Presbyterian College for Girls until 1966. The larger building, above, is the original of the complex; it was built in 1910 and is built in the Classical Revival style. It was listed on the National of Historic Places on December 12, 1976.

The central part of the building also had an additional floor on top, but it was destroyed in a fire...I don't know when the blaze occurred though.

The South and Financial Buldings were added on after Choctaw Nation moved into their new "capitol". The Financial Building was built in the mid 1990s. Unfortunately, I don't know when the South Building was built, but I do know that it was built before the Financial Building.
