[1723] Red Carpet- Xanthorhoe decoloraria 17/08/2011
This was up on the house wall this morning and when I looked at it through binoculars I almost dismissed it as a worn Flame Carpet, but thought it looked just different enough to warrant sending John up his ladder to collect it. I'm still not 100% certain, but I think it's a Red Carpet and therefore a new record for the garden. Otherwise, it was another fairly disappointing night, with numbers of both insects and species low again.
