Embroidered Georgian Pictures (Shire Library)

Meticulously embroidered pictures that could be framed and displayed formed a part of a girl's education through the Goergian period in Britain (1714-1830). This book shows the variety of subjects and techniques and also glances at the work produced in American schools. As well as schoolgirls, outstanding women like Miss Morritt, Mrs Knowles and Miss Linwood produced large embroidered pictures to simulate paintings, greatly admired at the time, but now totally neglected. Pictorial needlework also adored upholstery, chair seats, screens and wallhangings. This book will be a useful handbook for collectors, museum curators and antique dealers, and an inspiration to the modern needlewoman.

Day 64

Day 64

If my brother ever sees this picture he is going to think that i'm a silly little girl. And the truth is, I am. For the past three months he has been living back at home with us while the house he's moving into was being renovated. It's been really nice having him back at home and in his old room...although it didn't look this nice when he occupied it!

This past week he has been slowly moving his things out as his new house is finally livable. As silly as it sounds (especially cus he's moving five blocks away!) i'm gonna miss him a whole lot. My brother and I live very different lives with opposite schedules so it's been a comfort having him live in the room next to me again. I know him moving out is not the end of the world, but i've gotta say it's been a fun three months :)
