Village Evangelism in a Revival Zone Outreach here at Pemba has felt like being one of the 72 being sent out by Jesus because of the results we are experiencing. When the disciples came back they where rejoicing because the blind saw the lame walked and they had authority over the demons, each week as teams come back to Pemab they share stories just like this. Two or three teams will head out to a different part of the northern province of Cabol Delgado. Each team is made up of about half foreign visitors like me and suzy and half local mozambican Christians, normally 30 - 35 of us pile on to the back of a flat bed lorry squeezing in with sound equipment, tents and enough food for three days. We all get bump along for up to 7 hours along uneven roads normally arriving just before dark to set up tents in an village. Some start to cook and others pray while a few set up the sound system and movie screen, soon the village is resonating with funky african worship music and people start to gather and dance. Usually a few hundred to a thousand people will drift in to see what is happening and after introductions and prayer it's time for the jesus movie in macua or macondi the local tribal dialects. The Jesus movie is quite staggering, the number of languages it has been translated into, it is probably the only film available in macua! It is almost defiantly the first movie that has been shown in their village and the first time many villagers have seen and heard the story of Jesus. Two and a bit hours later we are all very tired but pushing in intercession as the movie comes to a conclusion. A preacher jumps on the truck and starts to talk quickly, it is 3 hours after dark now and sundown is when people go to bed normally, so before they drift off to bed their attention must be engaged. This is the moment to let people know this isn't just a movie but reality and this Jesus is here and He wants to heal you and set you free. Soon a stream of men who want to quit drinking are pushing forward to be prayed for for freedom, a blind lady is lead forward, a girl who has been deaf for years, an old woman complaining of crippling back pain and stomach problems. With to few translators to go around people point to the part of their body which hurts and we just start to lay on hands and pray. The Old lady climbs on the truck and shows everybody how she can bend now, the girl looks startled as suzy clicks her fingers by her ear realizing she can hear and the blind lady says the darkness in her eyes is gone, punching the air in praise of Jesus the only true God. How many hands do you think go up when asked if they want to follow Jesus, to have Him in their hearts? The people press forward to receive, they are hungry, hungry for Jesus and He is here to meet them. The next day early in the morning they gather to tell stories about what Jesus did for them the night before, to beat the drums and worship and then load up and head down to the river to be baptized. This village will soon have a church building made of grass bamboo and mud, we know one of the village men will be at Pemba himself soon to attend the pastors training course. This is how a nation is changed, God is here growing his kingdom and it is so cool' because He takes us His little kids along with Him, to join in His exploits of Love, demonstrating how much He desires and values the poor of Mozambique. wish you where here friends! During the English Civil War, he is said to have escaped his roundhead pursuers by jumping out of a window with a tall relieving arch. (We think the relieving arch must be the window in the middle of the three.) This window then became the symbol of the Dering estate. It was used extensively in the 19th century when building cottages on the family estate around Pluckley by a descendant of Sir Edward. In fact, we noticed two very new houses that had been built with these windows, so it’s nice to see the tradition continuing. The Greensand Way is a footpath covering about 100 miles through mainly very rural countryside in Surrey and Kent. It follows a route parallel to and south of the North Downs, following a ridge of sandstone (which sometimes looks green because of the presence of the mineral glauconite). Because of Louise’s disability, it’s not possible for us to walk this route, but today we decided to follow the extreme eastern end by car. Daylighting in the Tropics: Daylight Availability, Sky Luminance Distribition, Daylight Application with Automated Blind Residential and commercial buildings share about 55% of the world electrical energy consumption. Proper use of daylight reduces energy for lighting and air- conditioning. Due to the luminosity of sky, daylighting offers a great potential for application in tropical region. However, daylighting in the tropics under the constraints of requirement of energy conservation, visual comfort, and varying skylight and sunlight faces a real challenge that still awaits satisfactory solutions. This research addresses investigating tropical daylight and its illuminance through window. Measurements at a daylight station in Bangkok, Thailand, were compiled for a priori knowledge of the availability of tropical daylight and sky luminance distributions. This study also examines a means of automated blind to bring daylight into building interior to illuminate at appropriate level as much space as possible with consideration of indoor daylight quality. Energy savings of the system is assessed through model simulation and physical experimentation. This book should be useful for researchers in daylight research group and professionals in sustainable building design community. "The river of coloured lights, black stuff the city rests its jewels on" (Quote. Douglas Dunn) had yet to change to lifeblood-sapped grey line. Seven forty-five darkness is a great time and place to listen to music (which flowed back then from on a standard issue Walkman). Sometimes I'd listen to my attic room home demos of the period, wishing they'd somehow capture the sound of the city in the way it seemed to me records on the breakfast show could as I listened at low volume in the attic room, getting ready. A favourite of mine at the time was Kym Sims' eerie yet functional Too Blind To See It which to me was hewn from the stone-clad fabric of urban life, the minimalist organ burble (overlaid on the sparest, least glossy, house piano possible) charged with an ancient Telstarred electricity akin to that harnessed by Tubeway Army's Are "Friends" Electric? It spoke to me of ethereal drone of Edwardian redbrick substations as they loom up through the foggy ruins of time, to quote a phrase, on the 2 a.m. drunken walk home as mail trains still rumbled under London and their big brothers still ran through the night, rattling on through the works of W.H. Auden, Ronnie Biggs & the late great James Brown. Though not as resplendent as the Royal Mail livery, the bus to Hillington was tall and imposing, its outside painted red, its inside sort of wood-finished with metal bits fastened on. These were the days before FirstBus decided to base its corporate design on the inner city shellsuit and interiors were moulded purple plastic. The bus station was adjacent to the Pearce Institute where the Huxleys used to rehearse and Brechins' bar (known for some reason as ateh Black Man and occupying the ground floor of a former temperance hall) where we occasionally repaired afterwards. The big red bus was warm enough inside but shuddered mechanically towards Hillington Industrial Estate past the 1910 redbrick Kvaerner Govan shipyard (formerly Fairfields, owned by William Pearce, the husband of the "PI"'s founder ), On wintry starts, I'd see the Elder Park pond looking lightly frosted on grass and ground around with the Elder Park library, opened by andrew Carnegie in 1903, standing proudly behind it. Not far from here stood a pub I'd visit towards the end of the decade where IRA pictures andposters lined the walls, one of which was signed by three terrorists including the killer, in the Maze prison, of a loyalist paramiltary called Billy Wright. Such is Glasgow. We cruised past the old-fashioned Belisha beacons at the corner of the exotically named Aboukir Street, past the vehicle-swallowing mouth of the Clyde Tunnel -opened by the Queen the day that I was born; past the vast Southern General Hospital, sprawling on the left. Though partially modernised, the greater part of could stand in on film with minimum dressing as a War Hospital (either World War) or sunny Sunday morning marching grounds, replete with its barracks-style elevations, running tracks, posh-school clock towers and outhouses like vintage farm buildings.via the White Horse distillery with its appropriately equine statue galloping static at its entrance. These were typically chilly mornings where the fumes from a newly-lit cigarette seem positive and life-affirming, everything around me appeared to be in its rightful place till slowly the bracing briskness would dissipate as the gigantic strip-lit ex-factory loomed and the growing of the grey light unveiled all my usual imperfections. For a magical half hour, though, this was a world shorn of daily underachievement, this was a function metropolis, IMG 4853 The Incra LS Positioner comes with lots of Lexan ruler strips that automate positioning of the fence, making proper dovetailing a piece of measure-free cake. However, you still have to think a little bit. I didn't. These half-blind dovetails came out pretty well, really, except they're out of phase by half a dovetail. If I'd simply made the A and B cuts (as per the DOVN Lexan ruler) on opposite pieces, the boards would meet on their top and bottom edges cleanly, and the gaps you see here would be hidden inside, where they belong. Yet another thing I'll know to look for, and think about next time. Something else I did was use some wide stock - about 8" - and make a cut with the Incra Miter 5000 sled, such that I could get a nice square check with the Woodpeckers 6" clamping square (CNC machined to perfection), and after a few tests, found out I'd had things set already to perfectly square, and fixed the tools on the gauge back to reflect this. This is my favourite clock designed by Philippe Starck, it projects the time on the ceiling so that I don't have to get up to see the time, BUT i forgot i am short sighted. Now I have to grab my glasses, then project the time. :) Time, weather, date, humdity. The small square is supposed to be the sensor, but it ran out of battery so the screen is empty. The light I setup next to is a normal lamp with 2 bulbs and white paper as lamp shade. I laid black cloth around the clock and held up a white cloth to get the reflection I want in the clockface. I thought it would be great to make one that spun from the heat of the bulb , a very surreal thing to have LMAO. Having Dali's face spinning around seemed like a good idea at the time so I started working on it.. This will be a section of the lamp shade , one of two or three , formed into a circle . I may remove the whites of his eyes and replace them with a white paper that will let more light thru in that spot , just for some extra effect. After forming a random web of cotton strings on a frame wet mulberry fiber is applied and caught by the strings creating an open-meshed lace pattern. The wet sheet is then dried on the frame to set the pattern which is unique to each handmade sheet. Vivid episodes are portrayed to depict their quest in acquiring the bare necessities of life, and how this endeavor consumed most of their time and energy. In the midst of this pursuit, poignant scenes are dramatized to illustrate how their lives were impacted by the frequency of disease and death. Beyond this local environment, we become acquainted with episodes that detail the influence of spiritual values, along with cultural and educational mores that were indicative to that setting. The 2009 Report on Disposable Surgical Drapes and Packs for Obstetric and Operating Rooms: World Market Segmentation by City This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market. In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another. In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "disposable surgical drapes and packs for obstetric and operating rooms" for the year 2009. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. Wrong Way He stirred slowly. Through the dizziness, the splitting headache and nausea, he could tell his head was bobbing back and forth. The gentle humming of a car’s engine forced his eyes to open. The acrid smell of burnt pot and old beer stung his nostrils. At first, he was blinded by the light. He didn’t know at all where he was. He could see the highway and its brown, drought-thirsty median going past the window. Nothing seemed familiar. Not even the color of the sky beckoned a memory from his head. His back ached, and he tried to sit up. He couldn’t move his arms or his feet. His hands were bound behind his back and sore with the bruises that probably went ‘round his wrists like bracelets. Thinking hard, trying to remember what had transpired what seemed to be a few hours ago, he shimmied himself up in the car seat with his legs. Some cardboard boxes sat next to him and their contents rattled metallically inside. He could see the driver and passenger. A young kid, in young kid garb, and another guy, someone who looked like he could have been from a university. He could see the thick plastic rimmed glasses in the rear view mirror, taking notice of his movement. “He’s awake.” The university man said. The young kid shot an uninterested glance into the back seat, confident that the restraints were strong enough to keep him in place. “We should stop and get him some food.” The driver said, looking at him again in the rear-view mirror. “No. We shouldn’t. Can’t take any risk like that.” “At least give him some water.” “Man, you don’t know how to do this yet, do you?” The young kid said, shaking his head and unbuckling his seatbelt. He saw young kid climb over the console and grab an old plastic milk jug of warm water from the floor of the car. “Come on, put up your head.” The kid said to him. He didn’t want to put up his head. He turned away from the kid. “Come on, we’re not gonna hurt you, just turn your head. It’s just water.” The kid unscrewed the cap off the jug. He opened his mouth and the young kid started to pour the water into his mouth, dribbling it down his shirt and onto the cracked leather seats. He looked out the window as he swallowed some of the soured water. They were passing an amusement park. “Which way do I go up here?” “South, south.” The young kid said, putting the jug of water down on the floor. He looked out of the window and shifted in the seat as the young kid climbed over the console into the front passenger seat. The young kid knocked over a box with his foot as he pushed into the front of the car. Some silver pieces and his wife’s jewelry box fell out onto the car floor. He began to remember what had happened. “It’s up here. Turn south here.” He heard the young kid say. The car started to turn. He squirmed, struggling to push himself against the window now. He had to see the road signs and find out where he was. He could feel the car decelerating, like it was going through a large cloverleaf interchange. The car sped up again. So my dollhouse isn't finished at all, in fact I just started decorating it a little bit but I need to get wallpaper and miniature floors before I can get really started though I wanted to show you some pictures of my "dollhouse in progress" even if it's a bit of a mess (sorry) I'm sooo excited making the walls and floors and really finishing my dollhouse but most of all I'm so happy I finally have my own dollhouse haha. I made a roller-blind on top of my closet so I can keep my collection a little bit private since the closet is standing in the middle of our living room and I must say it works perfect. Tomorrow we're supposed to get soaked again by another Pacific storm, but we will see that when it arrives. Meanwhile I enjoyed going out for a couple of hours and I took photos of some old buildings in the downtown area, and also some photos of the flowers in the neighborhood. Because this flower was in the shade and I was hand-holding the camera, to take this photo I set the Canon EOS 5D Mark II camera to Shutter Priority (TV) mode. The RAW file was subsequently processed in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom, using the NIK software plug-ins to reduce noise and increase overall sharpness. Technical data: exposure was set to 1/160th of a second, the aperture is f/3.5 and the ISO is 100. Spring Shade A simple and elegant lampshade which retains a sense of fun in its form and detailing.
