Florida Gators
Basking Florida gators - the Alligator mississippiensis type as well as the U Florida type......the young woman is one of my former undergraduate researchers from the University of Florida....and thus, a Florida gator. Chenan is currently a PhD student at the U of Chicago.
As they say on TV....don't try this at home - we are experts.
It was a cold morning and we had a controlled environment (we do research on alligators and crocodiles), you do not want to just lay down where the gators are coming out to bask. Further, she was in that position for less than 30 seconds....but it made a fun photo for her.....one she will not show her parents any time soon nor her future kids until they are adults (no giving them ideas)!
For perspective - she is a little over 5 ft tall....the gators are a bit bigger!

We rode in his truck up Powhite to Downtown Expressway to 95 to 64 to 360 east. We stopped at a mcdonalds at 360 and 64 so i could pee and G could get some food. He also fed Dallas a big mac. He was just hangin out in the back of the truck. While goin east on 360 I was pointing out all the neighborhoods I did plumbing in back in the 2000s.He works a few Group Homes around northern Mechanicsville. I went into the main home he works. Hes off today but doin a few check ups. I met the gal who was running the house and some of the residents. Their heater is messing up and its COLD outside. G also showed Dallas to some of his residents. We then rode up to the office house and in the office area was this Redskins painting. Im a big skins fan and I like the painting so I took a pic. Gbrad is frantically tryin to find someone to fix the heat. As we left we stopped off at a couple other group homes real close by. All the while he was trying to find an HVAC technician. We stopped at one last Group Home off Shady Grove Road where he was still trying. Gunsmoke was on the TV on the patio where we were sitting. We left and headed back to Chesterfield. He finally got a HVAC guy. When we got back to his house his Dad was there but I had to get home to eat supper with Dad. We went to Anna's Italian Restaurant. It was crowded. Im just getting a small cheese pizza. Dad is getting spaghetti. He let me eat his bread. A party of 8 came in and there was no room for them so one member asked us of we could move so they could fit all in. We complied. We were all sitting in what seemed like the former smoking section.My pizza was good. I had to eat it with a knife and fork so I could keep in pace with Dad eating his spaghetti. When we got home I sat on the couch with the fire and I got a phone message from Louis. Hes got a question about hooking up an ice maker. I talked to Tice on the phone for a bit first. I then called Louis and it sounds like hes got a fridge capable of making ice at his other apt he rents out but there is no hookup for it. I told him he might gotta have sheet rock cut to have one installed so he had second thoughts and wondered if he could just remove the icemaker and tray from the fridge. I also told him its possible to run a long length of 3/8s soft copper from the cold side of the kitchen sink, which is on the opposite side of the fridge with a short wall and run the soft copper thru the cabinets and behind appliances and to the fridge. He gonna think about that and might have me install a new dishwasher in the apt. I then went upstairs and talked to Tice more on here. He got me watching an old MST3K id never seen called "Time of the Apes" It was Japanese. Funny as usual. Its now Jan.14,2012 and I watched an old episode I remember from the late 90s called "Riding With Death". After seeing that I went to bed.

And On The 8th Day God Created Appliance Stores....
....and the people rejoiced, as they could shop everywhere, and heck, maybe even own their own appliance store. But then Greed got in the way and said " Hey I have a better way! I'll sell EVERYTHING, even groceries, in the same store!" Slowly independent stores, and heck, even well-known appliance chains such as Fretter and Highland Appliance ended up like this building on Grand River in Detroit, giving way to the mighty "Big Box Stores". And the people saved money, and jobs went overseas, and the stock market crashed, and the Government in Iceland went Bankrupt... and well you get the idea. Support your local businesses already, would ya? :)

This is the back side of our home in the very beginning. We moved in on October 31st, 2004, and we have since added a front deck and a back deck. From this view you can see our walkout basement door, and above it you can see our sliding glass doors.
It was hard to believe that we owned a brand new home, that I would be cooking on all new appliances, that for once in our lives, we could call the dog or cats as loud as we wanted to without bothering the neighbors. Indeed, they are several acres away!
The front of the home faces our little strip of woods, separated from us by a front yard and a driveway. We have so much privacy! For two city people, this is a little piece of Heaven!
Jack and I have been married for 7 years now, in 2008. We are fairly well established in this little community in the Finger Lakes. We do not go to Florida every winter as many of our friends do. I'm hoping we'll go down sometime during the coming winter to visit with my children and grandchildren. We only have to go to Hatfield, PA or Northeast, MD to visit Jack's children.
Jack and I are actually cousins, and we spent some good times together in the summers when we were young. We didn't hear anything from one another for a period of 50 years, and I thought I'd like to find out how he was getting along. I had been alone for many years after a disappointing marriage. I wrote to my cousin Jack, thinking he was happily married. But he had lost his wife to cancer three years earlier. He called, he came down, we laughed and cried together, and then we knew we shared enough history to be happy together. We married in 2001.
This is probably the best group I could join. I continually apologize to my friends for writing such lo-o-o-ong e-mails. I love to write. I think there are many people for whom writing is the communication of choice. Thank you for a group that accepts a lot of verbiage. Who'd ever have thought there would be a group like this???
What are you doing?
004/365. I am starting to walk around the house with my camera, finding that half of the shots I like are the ones that just happen (I’ve only heard this a million times. About time it sank in alittle). This was the underlying theme in “Charmed Life”. I had been setting up “making” my shots when Gizmo popped in to see what was going on. Same thing happened here. I was walking around the house looking for something to shoot. I was in the guest bathroom taking pictures, of all things, a disused shower head, when I saw Gizmo in the hall. It was getting late in the day and the sun was making a soft box out of our hallway. Cat curiosity kept Gizmo there long enough for me to take this picture. Curiosity got the shot… I like that much better than that the more infamous saying.
