Snow-flakes in Australia. !=568=:8 ?>-02AB@0;89A:8 (8<0 2 @8A1>=5)
This month Euphorbia leucocephala has started to bloom - it is the sign of winter coming to Down-Under.
Common names: Snow flake bush, Snows of Kilimanjaro, Pasquita or Pascuita ( in Spanish)
I don't know what to do with Kilimanjaro, - it isn't African plant.
Origin is Central America
Closely related to poinsettia, and - strangely enough - to 'Crown of Thorns'
Flower of the Baobab
Such a nice surprise and luck to see this flower!
Adansonia madagascariensis
is one of six species of baobab endemic to Madagascar.
Only red flowering baobab (normally white, yellow-orange).
Also, apparently it is the first photo of it in Flickr.
Location: in Mt. Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, Brisbane Australia.
Only a few flowers were on the tree, and note the flowers buds.
flowers to australia
Published by the National Library of Australia. The National Library of Australia has a wonderful cache of Australian wildflower art produced by prolific women artists of colonial and post colonial Australia. Women of Flowers: Botanical Art in Australia from the 1830s 1960s showcases artists whose meticulous and beautiful works contribute just as significantly to botany as they do to early Australian art. Leonie Norton examines the role of these women artists in Australia s botanical history, giving insight into the lives and persons of these quietly creative documenters. From the famous waratah to the rare Caladenia pulcherrima (Eastern Mantis Orchid), Women of Flowers is a feast for the eyes, bringing to life the vibrancy and intricacy of Australia s native flora.
