016/365 TMJ Appliance
I've had TMJ issues since I was about 18 after laying against my jaw on the couch watching "Sleepy Hollow". In 2005 I fell asleep on a roadtrip and woke up, stretched my jaw and the meniscus slipped out of place at that moment, keeping my jaw from opening more than half an inch. I finally found Dr. Pullinger at UCLA who injected my jaw joint with saline to break up the built up adhesions; I drove to LA three times a week for three weeks for physical therapy to the jaw at Westwood Physical Therapy to stretch the jaw muscles... Almost a year later I had better insurance, so I returned to have the pictured appliance/splint created.
So Saturday morning I woke up with a headache and later had a sharp pain below my left temple.. I always carry my appliance in my purse so I rinsed it off and the pain went away after 3 hours.
