- Involving a high degree of activity and exertion; stressful
- Involving or using much physical force
- High pressure science and engineering is studying the effects of high pressure on materials and the design and construction of devices, such as a diamond anvil cell, which can create high pressure.
- (of a salesperson or sales pitch) Employing a high degree of coercion; insistent
- (pump) operate like a pump; move up and down, like a handle or a pedal; "pump the gas pedal"

This is a working china clay pit. The clay is washed out of the ground using water, then pumped up the pipes (which can be seen to the left). The mixture is left to settle, then filtered in high-pressure filters, then kiln dried. About 80% ends up to make paper (it is what makes glossy paper shiny). The rest is used in various products, including toothpaste, plastics, and inside electrical cables.
