    clarinet
  • a single-reed instrument with a straight tube

  • An organ stop with a tone resembling that of a clarinet

  • (clarinetist) a musician who plays the clarinet

  • The clarinet is a musical instrument that is a part of the woodwind family. The name derives from adding the suffix -et (meaning little) to the Italian word clarino (meaning a type of trumpet), as the first clarinets had a strident tone similar to that of a trumpet.

  • A woodwind instrument with a single-reed mouthpiece, a cylindrical tube of dark wood with a flared end, and holes stopped by keys. The most common forms are tuned in B flat, A, and E flat

    how to
  • Providing detailed and practical advice

  • A how-to or a how to is an informal, often short, description of how to accomplish some specific task. A how-to is usually meant to help non-experts, may leave out details that are only important to experts, and may also be greatly simplified from an overall discussion of the topic.

  • Practical advice on a particular subject; that gives advice or instruction on a particular topic

  • (How To’s) Multi-Speed Animations

    make
  • The structure or composition of something

  • give certain properties to something; "get someone mad"; "She made us look silly"; "He made a fool of himself at the meeting"; "Don't make this into a big deal"; "This invention will make you a millionaire"; "Make yourself clear"

  • The manufacturer or trade name of a particular product

  • engage in; "make love, not war"; "make an effort"; "do research"; "do nothing"; "make revolution"

  • brand: a recognizable kind; "there's a new brand of hero in the movies now"; "what make of car is that?"

  • The making of electrical contact

    reed
  • A tall, slender-leaved plant of the grass family that grows in water or on marshy ground

  • United States journalist who reported on the October Revolution from Petrograd in 1917; founded the Communist Labor Party in America in 1919; is buried in the Kremlin in Moscow (1887-1920)

  • United States physician who proved that yellow fever is transmitted by mosquitoes (1851-1902)

  • Used in names of similar plants growing in wet habitats, e.g., bur reed

  • A tall, thin, straight stalk of such a plant, used esp. as material for thatching

  • tall woody perennial grasses with hollow slender stems especially of the genera Arundo and Phragmites

Among The Woodwinds

Among The Woodwinds

Here's the first of what will be a string of St. Patrick's Day parade photos. We ended up getting there a little bit late due to some junkie pulling the emergency brake on the D train( I wish I was kidding ), so we didn't see much of the parade itself, but got lots of behind the scene shots as the different groups prepared for their moment in the spotlight. Here we have a bunch of clarinets, my instrument of choice during those awkward formative years. Want to make a dorky, skinny kid that much cooler? Hand him a woodwind and ask him to attempt to create music by blowing on a dry reed. Oh how I miss band class.
