M icrosound-part one; Microwhat?

Potaknut igrinom znatiželjom konačno se odlučih započeti ovaj post, iako je on samo prvi u nizu vezanih uz ovu temu. Gore navedeni citat otprilike daje naslutiti osnovni okvir ideje "microsound-a" koji je u svom praktičnom obliku poznat kao "granular synthesis", a ponegdje se u teoretskom smislu naziva i "acoustical quanta", sugerirajući pritom više povijesni kontekst uloge otkrića kvantne fizike, negoli stvarnu analogiju. Analogija bi, s obzirom na vremenske ravni, trebala izgledati otprilike ovako: 1. Infinite // beskonačano dugo trajanje, matematički ideal 2. Supra // generalno duže trajanje ali manje od beskonačnog 3. Macro // trajanje manje od nekoliko dana ali duže od sata 4. Meso // trajanja vezana uz standardne vremenske obrasce glazbene arhitekture mjerene u minutama i/ili sekundama 5. Sound object // bazična jedinica trajanja, otprilike ono što bi mogli nazvati tonom 6. Micro // čestice zvuka u trajanjima koje su još uvijek perciptivna mjerljivo u milisekundi i/ili naviše 7. Sample // "atomski" nivo na digitalnim audio sistemima, trajanja mjerljiva u mikrosekundama (1/1000000) dio sekunde 8. SubSample // fluktuacije toliko kratke da se ne mogu niti snimiti, a kamoli percipirati 9. Infinitesimal // beskonačno kratko trajanje, još jedan matematički ideal U skladu s tim vidljivo je da "microsound" barata vrlo kratkim vremenskim jedinicama zvuka, ali još uvijek u granicama perceptivnog. Naravno da su računalne tehnologije pripomogle razvoju "microsounda", ali njegovo otkriće ipak seže u 40.godine prošlog stoljeća i radove nobelovca Dennisa Gabora, a neke predideje mogu se vezati i uz "Tellharmonium" Thadeusa Cahilla ili pak "Theremin" Leona Theremina s početka 20.stoljeća. ...to be continued... |

The aspirant striving without specific instruction, Like an ant climbing a sand hill, accomplishes nothing. Gathering instruction, but ignoring meditation on the nature of mind, Is like starving oneself when the larder is full. The Sage who refuses to teach or write, Is as useless as the jewel in the King Snake's head. The fool who knows nothing but prattles constantly, Merely proclaims his ignorance to all. S ound of the U niverse
 GleetchPlug Design najavio je novi softsynth pod radnim nazivom RSP koji bi za sintezu trebao koristiti zvukove snimljene specijalnom tehnologijom razvijenom za potrebe radio astronomije. Tako će uz dosadašnje standardne sine, square i ine oscilatore korištene u standardnoj sintezi RSP koristiti snimke solarnih vjetrova, zvukova galaksija i sličnih pojava. Dok nestrpljivo čekate RSP kako bi komponirali svoju prvu intergalaktičku simfoniju osladite se besplatnim GleetchLab softwareom. Microsound u svoj svojoj raskoši...
