Ferrybridge, Yorkshire, UK
This bridge was opened circa 1804, to replace a smaller bridge on the site. Both this and the previous bridge carried the Great North Road over the River Aire - since 1974 the boundary between West and North Yorkshire.
This bridge is only open to walkers and cyclists now as another new bridge - behind where I was stood - was opened to carry the A1 (now the A162) road through this part of the country. Although once again, another new bridge was opened further along the river to carry to new new A1 motorway - if you still follow me - anyway, it's a bridge.
Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Wrexham, Wales, UK
The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct is a navigable aqueduct that carries the Llangollen Canal over the valley of the River Dee in Wrexham in north east Wales.
Completed in 1805, it is the longest and highest aqueduct in Britain, a Grade I Listed Building and a World Heritage Site.
