I hit up on the idea of using that for my shot! The traditional Irish breakfast includes, Sausage, Bacon, Black Pudding (blood pudding), White Pudding, Egg, Tomatoes and a more recent addition thanks to our American friends.. the Hash Brown. It's almost always accompanied by a very traditional Brown Soda bread and a nice steaming cup of tea.. It is rather delicious but it leaves you full for most of the day! Brown Soda Bread 3 cups/14oz Wholemeal Flour 3 cups/14oz White flour 1 teaspoon Bread (Baking) soda 1 teaspoon Salt 1 teaspoon Sugar 2? cups/1 pint Buttermilk or sour milk Put the wholemeal flour into a large mixing bowl and add the sieved white flour, salt, sugar and bread soda. Mix well. Scoop out a well in the flour and pour in about ? of the milk. With your fingers draw the flour into the milk, mixing them with as light a touch as you can. The dough should come together easily into a soft ball, if it is too dry add a little more milk but avoid allowing the dough to become sticky. Turn the dough onto a floured board and shape it into a flattened oval about 2 inches high. Cut a large cross into the surface. Place in the oven immediately. After 10 minutes reduce the heat to 400?F (200?C/Gas Mark 6). Bake for another 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and knock on the base of the loaf – if it sounds hollow it is done.
