Baku
Azerbaijan has been miles of nothing but poverty, with mostly unfriendly people and very few facilities like cash machines, hotels, petrol stations that take credit cards. At one petrol station today, all the attendants had gold teeth, in numbers seemingly proportional to age. Albania was nothing but petrol stations, azerbaijan is nothing but furniture shops. Road to Baku under construction, as with so many other roads we've been on. When it finally led on to the recently finished part at the baku end, with perfectly smooth tarmac, it was a joy and a relief. It's really getting hot now, over 40 today. Azerbaijan landscape could be mars at times, really odd and getting properly desert-like. Italian driving is manic, albanian driving is crazy, in azerbaijan it's just moronic. Dave put it best; "like driving the wrong way up a dual carriageway". All of a sudden, baku appears and is a huge city with modern hotels, fashion shops, glitzy buildings, luxury cars. Totally unexpected, and utterly incongruous. Finally found a hotel cheap enough (i wanted the nice one, dave wanted a cheap one), unfortunately no wifi, air con, proximity to city centre, or any clean surfaces. I would rather have paid the extra 24 dollars for any one of those things. Instead we have no way of finding out where the ferry port is, where to stay, if any other hubbers are in town, what to see and do in baku, and instead of having 2 days to enjoy baku, we will waste another day fighting the crazy traffic in the stifling heat. Not being in the centre we can't really see the best of the city, another reason why we should have paid a bit more. We found a half decent bar, suprisingly with english speaking staff and a private booth with our own tv, including CNN in english. They also have an english menu. I'm hoping for much better things tomorrow, once we get the bikes safely behind the line at ferry customs before the transit visas for our bikes run out. With our beer comes chicken wings. It turns out to be a whole baby chicken, about 3 inches long. Tasty, but insubstantial. Baku looks like an amazing place, so i'm really hoping we get lucky with finding a hotel and the ferry port, and that we can enjoy some of what the city has to offer.
1980 RCA XL100 25 inch Color Console Television Reborn
Something else I have owned since brand new this original RCA XL 100 25 inch color console TV. It stopped working, well it had problems with the tuner so the picture is always blurred or nothing but static.I had a new picture tube put in way back in 1999 so I could watch the Daytona 500, more miles on the TV than my car watching races. It probably was cheaper to buy a new TV at the time, but I mean it has so much style.
The TV has sat unplugged for about 3 years at my daughters house, she said dad we need to get rid of the TV and make some room, well I moaned and complained and finally said just get rid of it and hope it can go to a good home or donate it to a playhouse or something. Well Christmas day it shows up with the old insides gutted and made into a display cabinet, kind of sad, but there it was. So my amazing wife could tell I was not too happy it was now a display case and the next thing I know she puts our 24 inch flat screen inside. I thought it was kinda cool and before you know it I am making sure it is all braced up along with setting up the cable and hiding all the wires that were all over the floor and there it sits. So far everyone really likes it a lot and I have to admit it looks pretty cool. The cabinet is all wood except the plastic around the screen and in very good shape. It is a nice piece of furniture. The only problem after it was all setup is the flat screen has a dvd player built in, so some modifications it has a way of loading the dvds now which is perfectly hidden from site. The picture does not do it justice.

Semi-ground 3000 Series bearings are designed for adaptation to a majority of precision bearing applications. Careful heat treatment provides a uniform and exact degree of hardness for maximum life. The 3000 Series bearings are precision ground to close tolerances on the O.D. (Outside Diameter) with exceptional care given to the ball grooves. The bore is semi-ground. A ball retainer, or separator, is used to increase the range of allowable speeds by reducing ball-to-ball contact friction. RBC Nice Bearings is a subsidiary of RBC Bearings.
