Day 125 -- These Jewels ...
This ear-ring and nose-ring were surprise gifts from my husband on my sixtieth birthday.
I used to wear bigger ear-rings with 7 small diamonds each before that. I like to wear these lighter and simpler ones. I have been wearing the same all along right from the day they were gifted.
I remember the day I got my ears pierced at the age of seven( whereas all Hindu kids will have the ears pierced on the first birthday or before).
I got one side of my nose pierced by a doctor(after local anaesthecia was applied) when I was thirty-five, as I took a fancy to wearing nose-ring.
Native Nose Ring Makers
A family photo, circa 1860 (best guess). Near (or in) English Bazar or Malda, West Bengal. "Native Nose Ring Makers" is the hand written title from my great, great, great grandfather.
