Taking Apart a Minolta Hi-Matic S This Minolta Hi-Matic S didn't cost me much, isn't worth much when working, and has a fatal problem. The aperture blades and shutter blades are one in the same and when you cock the shutter, the blades shift apart leaving a small gap that would expose the film. The gap closes again after you fire the shutter, but by then it's too late. So, I had nothing to lose by attempting a complete disassembly and rebuild of the lens. Although I was not able to find the problem or fix it, still, it was a relative success as I was able to get all the way down to the blades and reassemble it again in 'working' condition - problem still there, but otherwise working as well as when I started. The only other time I got this far into a camera, it ended up in the garbage! :) Minolta Autocord, partially uncovered After repairs by Karl Bryan, the camera is butter smooth... Karl did not try to put the old crumbling leatherette back on, as I'm waiting for a cameraleather.com delivery... from what I hear, I may be waiting a while. Taken with a Macro-Takumar 50/4 preset; I loaded a very large size in case anyone likes to see detail of what's under the skin on one of these...
