Powerful Owl
We found this Owl in the Barrington Tops, NSW, Australia. We hiked up hill for around 6km in search of the Barking Owl or Powerful Owl.
At the top of our walk we debated whether or not to take a 2km side trip to Bust-A-Gut-Lookout point. We decided yes and were rewarded with a sighting of ths guy.
He hung around for a minute then flew to another tree further away. His presence there flushed out a pair of Green Catbird's, something else we had never seen.
All in all a succesful walk.
Powerful Owl 1
One of the young Powerful Owls first seen in my garden on 12 January 2006. This photo was taken approximately 500 metres from home along the creek line. This individual still holds the remains of the previous evening's prey.
