    blonde hair
  • Blond (see below) or fair-hair, is a hair color characterized by low levels of the dark pigment eumelanin. The resultant visible hue depends on various factors, but always has some sort of yellowish color.

  • indicates a guide. Whatever they say in the dream is infallible. However, if the hair is dyed blonde it indicates a sham – either you or someone in your life is pretending to be pure of thought.

  • is not as visible, but it's also harder to treat. Lasers have limited effects on it because of its lack of pigment, and it is difficult to see against the skin during plucking or electrolysis.

    blue eyes
  • The Boy Who Knew Too Much is the second studio album by singer Mika. It was released on September 21, 2009, under Casablanca Records and released in the United States by Universal Motown Republic Group.

  • The Blue-eyes are a family of atheriniform fish, the Pseudomugilidae, related to the rainbowfishes. They inhabit fresh and brackish water in Australia and New Guinea. Blue-eyes are small fish, typically no more than in length.

  • "Blue Eyes" is a song by Elton John. It was released in 1982, both as a single and on the album Jump Up!, which reached #8 in the UK. In the US, the song went #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and went to #1 on the adult contemporary chart, becoming John's sixth chart-topper on this list .

Blue-Eyed in the Rain. Sisyrinchium graminoides, Blue-Eyed Grass, Narita, Japan

Blue-Eyed in the Rain. Sisyrinchium graminoides, Blue-Eyed Grass, Narita, Japan

The last month or so I've been delighted to see a lot of Blue-Eyed Grass - Sisyrinchium atlanticum - all over Kyushu and also on Okinawa (I posted a photo of one of its flowers together with Veronica persica a couple of weeks ago). But I hadn't noticed our Real and True Blue-eyed Grass until this morning during a layover in Narita, close to Tokyo's premier international airport..
Narita - just away from the greatest noise of planes - is a pleasant town graced by a large Buddhist temple and shrine, Narita-no-Ofudo-sama. Around this temple is a beautiful park in any kind of weather, even the torrential rains of today. If you're tired of the park, you can easily venture out into countryside with verdant hills and pretty byways, small leas and pastures, and good roadsides for botanising.
And just before the rain literally poured, I saw this other Sisyrinchium, graminoides or angustifolium.
In 1799, just before his death, William Curtis (1746-1799), founder of The Botanical Magazine (1787) of London, England, published in that notable journal a short description graced with a very beautiful engraving by one F. Sansom of the fine line-drawing made by Sydenham Teaste Edwards (1768-1819).
There continued, however, throughout the nineteenth century to be a lot of confusion about the names and nature of 'Blue-Eyed Grasses'. But at the end of the 1890s, the American botanist and ornithologist Eugene Pintard Bicknell (1859-1925) made clear delineations: our plant is to be known as Sisyrinchium angustifolium or Sisyrinchium graminoides.
I've not seen pigs in these fields, so I don't know whether the name - 'Pig-snout', apparently because hogs dig for 'Sisy''s roots - is fanciful or truth... Pigs here in Japan are not long left in the fields, I take it, for pork is a staple of people's diet! But the mud through which I had to make my way back into town would have been a party grounds for any hog! Less so for me. Still the rainy gloom was a boon for capturing this Blue as I really saw it, and also the raindrop on the bottom petal. More light would have 'bleached' them "out", I think.
