Bronze Check Valve
- A valve that closes to prevent backward flow of liquid
- A check valve, clack valve, non-return valve or one-way valve is a mechanical device, a valve, which normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction.
- A valve which will allow water to pass in one direction but will close and prevent flow (backflow) in the opposite direction.
- Limits the flow of gas to one direction only. Use a check valve between the bubbler and generator to prevent unwanted pressure build up in the generator, and a safety against a low level bubbler. A check valve, such as used on torches, is recommended.
- A yellowish-brown color
- made from or consisting of bronze
- an alloy of copper and tin and sometimes other elements; also any copper-base alloy containing other elements in place of tin
- A yellowish-brown alloy of copper with up to one-third tin
- A work of sculpture or other object made of bronze

This image shows the lower water-gauge shutoff valve, the drain valve for the gauge-glass, and what's slightly lower from the previous picture. The valves with the garden hose from them are the incoming water valves for the lifting injectors (the two bronze items), the black handle and horizontal red handle are the incoming steam to the injectors (one is used at a time). The steam partially condenses in the water andforces it through the pipes past the angle check valve (visible in background right) and past the vertical-stem shutoff valve (which is open when operating normally). Towards the bottom of the image a blue-handled blowdown valve is seen. This allows particulate mater to be expelled from the bottom ring of the boiler under pressure.
Steam input pipes
When I silver soldered the 1/16" lubricator tubing to the mixing manifold, the line got blocked with solder. I did not want to just drill it out and try the same thing again - the little line is fragile, and it might plug again. So, I modified the design - no more 1/16" diameter tubing - the lubricator check valve is mounted to the underside of the mixing manifold by a bronze tubular bushing.
