AIR FLIGHT SHOWDOWN

Well I am back from my trip. Well unfortunataly it was not the trip we planned for. We were all set to go on a trip on the Disney Dream Cruise Ship. This is the closest I got to any type of water on this trip.

My family all met at the airport and that is when everything started to go wrong. Thanks to Delta Airlines we never made our ship sailing time. Delta first delayed us an hour an a half for some unknown reason. They moved everyone on the flight to a different gate. Not a big deal. We had an 3 hour safety buffer for our cruise. Right about the time we were to board they said they were moving gates again because this second plane had maintenance issues. Again not a big deal but this was putting us close to our connection time. Then they delayed us again for the food service to get ready. This was not good this was now putting us in the red to make our ship. Then a final delay because the food service forgot drinking cups and had to go back and get them. AHHHHH. Now there was no way. Our travel agent (Debra Gordon @ MEI/Mouse Fan Travel) was on the phone with the Delta and Disney trying to work things out the entire time. Hats off to her for doing everything she could. She deserves a special thanks for her effort. Anyway Disney even tried to meet us at the gate to try and get us on the bus but all the efforts fell short. We finally got the call from Disney that they could not hold the ship for us any longer. Disney did all they could as well and do deserve a special thanks as well.

So we were all in MCO without a ship and no vacation. Things did not turn out all bad though. We were able to do a last minute booking at the Wilderness Lodge for the week and hit the parks. So all was not lost. We did have a great time considering. We were also upgraded to concierge level at the Lodge for free so that was a nice bonus. We did find out later in the trip that Disney is still going to honor our cruise for a small change fee to the reservation. So we are looking at next summer. I can wait. Thanks to all the nice comments on Twitter when I was in a bad part of the day when we learned of the bad news. It really did help lift my spirits.

As for the shot I tried our a new variable ND filter I picked up before the trip. I did not have my tripod so I had to rest on the wall. Nice to be able to take shots in mid-day and slow down shutters. I also had to sneak up on the stage to take this angle so shhh don't tell Disney.

I've been awake now the better part of three hours, timing contractions (hoping that they're just Braxton Hicks). Laying on my left side and drinking the equivalent of oceans of water. More than four an hour and I'm supposed to go to the hospital. So far this hour, I'm at three in a little less more than thirty minutes. Have I mentioned that it's nowhere near time for the baby to come yet? We've been doing this all weekend long, and honestly it's getting to be a bit tiresome. I really don't feel like dealing with the emergency room tonight.

I wish I could fall back asleep and stop worrying. The alarm is going to go off in less than three hours to get up for tomorrow.

This picture was taken during a roadtrip that Patrick and I took weekend before last. We were going down a backroad and stumbled upon a cornfield covered in snow. There must have been (without exaggeration) around a thousand geese in the field. When I stopped the car to take pictures, they started taking flight - and it was almost magical to watch them, the sounds of their wings reverberating against the cold air. We sat there together in silence just watching them for a few minutes.
