I chose the most gorgeous subway tile backsplash and it totally made the kitchen look amazing! The range was purchased as a closeout for about 35% off of new. It's a Viking all-gas range. I totally splurged on the range hood. It's from a company in Italy called futuro-futuro. It was about
$1400. Looked amazing because I was able to stain the wood to match the color of the kitchen island.

Granite arch
I took photos of this granite arch from many different angles but in the end I selected this one to share.
The City of Rocks is located just a bit N.E. of where Nevada, Utah, and Idaho converge...next to Almo, Idaho.
The easiest way to get there is south from Burley, Idaho to Almo.
It is an internatinal destination for rock climbers who covet the steep granite spires. But it is also a place full of history (The California Trail) passed through here as did a stage coach route. Before the emigrants, Shoshone and probably Bannock Indians visited the game rich mountains and the much prized pinon pine nuts. This reserve has the largest stand of these trees (and the largest specimen), in the state.
You can drive from sagebrush to aspen groves in 15 minutes. Well located campsites dot the are in strategic locations.
It is a place to come back to. This was my first visit but it won't be my last. I already have my favorite campsite picked out.
THE ROAD TRIP (November 2008):
With gasoline at under $2.23 a gallon; a weather forecast for Utah that looked great for 10 days; I headed out on an impromptu road trip from my home in Eastern Washington, with three destinations on my "wish list":
City of rocks near Almo, Idaho
San Rafael Swell near Green River, Utah
Davis Gulch near Escalante, Utah
I made it to all three; took some interesting hikes; and just flat out enjoyed roaming about the countryside with camera (Canon G9) in hand, seeing places I hadn't seen before. Great trip! OMT
Granite State
Here are some old timey scenes or icons of Concord, NH that I will leave you with while I'm away from my computer for a week. (I'll be back with photos from my travels to NYC.) The old cottages are the only waterfront property Concord has really and it used to be a "vacation" spot and is its own "community" on the Contoocook River.

Beaver Skull (1)
Skull from an American Beaver, Castor canadensis. The European beaver, which is larger, and this species are the only extant members of their family (Castoridae), but their next closest living relatives are squirrels - makes sense after seeing those huge teeth! This entire skull is about 6 inches, or 14 cm, long - and very tall and wide, as well. Impressive for a rodent! After the European beaver and Capybara, it's the 3rd-largest extant rodent.
During my last sampling trip, my mom found a partially mummified beaver laying on the creek bank. Since they're not a common animal, I didn't want it to go to waste, especially since the skeleton was complete. I had a bit of a tough time relieving the remains of this skull, and hung it up outside awhile to dry off more. Then a few rounds of soaking and scrubbing with hydrogen peroxide and hot water to get off the small remaining bits of flesh. I did do one short hot bleach soaking to sanitize it more, but too much bleach makes bones brittle, I've read. Once it was pretty well cleaned off, I boiled it in a junk pot I found and brought home for just such a project, and then put a coat of clear spraypaint on every surface of every piece for sanitary reasons. The teeth were all glued in place with epoxy (except for the exemplary removable incisors, shown out), as was the broken lower jaw symphysis. Those two incisors were what really got my attention about this skull - they slide into long sheaths, but are incredibly long! The ear bones are also very interesting, as they're somewhat loose in the skull and project upwards (their ears are on the top of the head).

I have a broken back tooth, and I don't have dental coverage (or any health insurance for that matter), so I've been rinsing with peroxide to keep it clean in there. =/
Sam starts her new job soon, so hopefully we'll be able to get hitched, and I can go to the dentist.

Preparing For Africa Day
Tips for Visitors to 'Africa Day @ Iveagh Gardens, Dublin'
* Arrive early: entry is not guaranteed and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
* Families with small children are advised to arrive before 3pm.
* There will be no entry to the event after 6pm.
* Although the weather will hopefully be good, be prepared for rain! Have a raincoat handy and wear waterproof footwear. Umbrellas are not recommended, as these may be confiscated for health and safety reasons.
* On a more optimistic note, be prepared for sun! Bring a good supply of sun protection, a hat and plenty of drinking water.
* If you intend staying for the entire afternoon, pack a picnic and some snacks with a supply of drinking water too. Remember, you will be required to clean up after yourself, so bring a bag to pack any rubbish and take it home with you for recycling or for the bin.
* There are limited car-parking facilities available in the vicinity of the Iveagh Gardens. It is advisable to take public transport to the ‘Africa Day @ Iveagh Gardens’ event (the ‘Harcourt Street’ stop on the Green Luas Line will leave you within a couple of minutes walking distance from the venue).
* A timetable for this event and a map of the gardens will be provided at the entry point. Please note all information points as you enter the venue.
* Look after your belongings.
* The event closes at 8pm.

On the northern tip of the Yuragir National Park, Angourie is surrounded by stunning beaches, picnic areas and walking tracks. The famous "Blue Pool" located in a bush setting right near the beach was originally a rock quarry which filled with fresh water when an underground spring was disturbed. It has long been a popular swimming hole, but is sometimes closed to swimming due to algae growth, so check the notices first. The beaches are superb, anyway!

8/365: I'm obsessed with these
So here I am, just jumped out of the shower tonight and cleaning out my ears for the 2nd time today. I realized that I hadn't done my daily photo today!
And of course since winter is absolutely miserable and I never see the sun anymore when I get off of work, all of my photos will mostly suck being indoors and nothing fun.
So here's a new tidbit you didn't know about me. I'm obsessed with cleaning my ears. Sometimes I even do it 3 times a day! And if I go a day without cleaning them out, I feel gross.
And I know! I know I'm not supposed to stick them in the ear canal, but that's the best part. It's like an ear-gasm or something. Ahhhh yep, that's the spot.
My boyfriend may make fun of me and my q-tip obsession, but I know no matter what, my q-tips will be with me FOREVER!

My limited experience with web hosts
The above screenshot is what happened today as a result of many of MediaTemple's customers being hacked (actually it's a result of the way they fixed the hacked sites). This is a bummer because I have just posted links to my work in order to get a show, that now lead to error pages. It's also a bummer because it's delaying me from getting a cookie in my belly by an hour so far. They tell me it's my fault and that I probably have "old code" or an "old theme file" but I honestly keep my stuff up to date and I'm certainly more vigilant about it than I was 2 years ago.
People ask me all the time who I recommend for hosting. I'll attempt to further confuse those people here. While on DreamHost for several years I experienced some slow performance and a couple cases of downtime. These things didn't really didn't cause me too much pain but I thought life would be better with MT especially one day when llama paintings hit the bigtime.
6 months ago or so I "upgraded" to MediaTemple from DreamHost thinking it would help me out when my site started getting more traffic. MT costs 10 times more and I've prepaid for a year in order to get a small discount. At least 8 times over the past 6 months I've noticed my site not functioning properly due to a server being down or hacked. Tech support has always been knowledgeable and friendly to me, but I have never needed to call tech support this much! If it's all my fault as they say, I wonder why I didn't have these problems before. My nerd friends who manage their own hosting on shell accounts have also looked into it and they tell me it's BS.
I'm sure no host is perfect, but from what others are telling me, MediaTemple is not as dependable as they were 5 years ago.
