I very much so believe it. We bought this fruit at a Japanese Market , and I took a few photos as practice shots, or potential ideas – then placed the durian in the fridge… until I got the perfect idea, because I wasn’t feeling the potentials.
Well maybe a week at the most went by, and our fridge and freezer began getting a very disgusting smell . We hated opening the fridge and freezer b/c it would literally stink up the joint. We finally decided after trying to figure out what and where the smell was coming from in the area to just clean the fridge and freezer out. We debated over what in the fridge was good and what could be the culprit. After my boyfriend threw away my sour cream and week old carrots- the smell still lingered.
Puzzled… I assumed that our fridge /freezer was possessed with the smelly gods. And gave up… especially since the cleaning fumes were kinda getting to me. A few hours later as I was editing photos from this weeks batch, the boyfriend bombarded into the bedroom and had solved our puzzle.
IT WAS THE DURIAN!!!
So the photo of the durian was not as ‘creative’ as planned or as I want it to be. But to say the least… for a week - the boyfriend and I played detectives and even though not at first we solved the mystery… it was eventually a successful solved mystery. And now we RE-cleaned out the fridge/freezer and the apartment is back to smelling normal.
Word of the wise: Durians are stinky. Due to the stink and the extra job of the week as a temporary detective… we did not eat the fruit. I’m sure the garbage can though outside has a new scent!
