Day 106
It sure is easy to fiind a daily shot when you are travelling. I'm home now and thought I'd share a purchase I made when I was away. I wanted to have my camera with me when I went to out touring, but didn't want to carry my full equipment bag. I couldn't find a camera store but did find this bag at Best Buy. It is a Lowepro Passport Sling. There is a protective casing velcroed in that can be removed and folded. It had a divider that I found just got in the way. Maybe if you have a smaller camera it would come in handy. The bag has a front section that you can use for extra gear. I did take my flash along once, but for the most part I just used it instead of a purse. It can expand so I even carried a sweater. There is a card pouch that held a couple of SD cards; a cell phone pouch; and another pouch that I put my keys in. I moved the protective casing forward a couple of inches because the zipper ended and it was harder to get the camera in and out. I think the idea was that the camera would go in lens down with the divider supporting it. I prefer it as depicted. I was able to leave the lens hood attached to my 18-105 lens. There are three outside pockets. One is described as a bottle holder but until I moved the insert forward it was too small. I really like the two open pockets on the side. I'd slip the lens cover inside when I was using the camera and it was good for papers and bits that you seem to collect. The outer fabric is kind of camera bagish and I would prefer something more stylish. The good news is that you can remove the insert and put it in a regular handbag to protect your camera. I was almost ready to buy a stylish padded lunchbag but this one fits the bill. It is very comfortable and doesn't cut in or choke.
A week in TX: The contents
Here's the two bags with the contents dumped out. Looks like a lot, but it's very light and I didn't need anything else. I was fully equipped for camping (well, up to a light rain but it's the TX hill country), had a towel, race supplies, a cute outfit for wineries, no shortage of knitting, a cute lil' computer, and still had room to bring a lot of yarn back.
Seriously, the yarn bag was half the size of the green bag it went in. I think I have a yarn problem.
