The two metal disks are sitting on top of piezo washers. The jack is:

Tip: left-hand pickup
Ring: right-hand pickup

I have a reverse-Y cable with summing resistors for combining the two together for typical mono gear. One side is internally inverted in the preamp (the pressure on each pickup alternates as the bridge rocks back and forth).

really does sparkle like this.....but I added a bit of treatment. While playing in the now defunct band "Celtic Elvis".....I usually wore some "matching" Doc Martens to great effect!!!
