CouncilPresentation12710 005 Sandy Springs Mayor Eva Galambos presented a proclamation Greenfield Hebrew Academy for entering and winning the Microsoft Bing competition called Our School Needs. They won a grand prize of $100,000. Under the direction of GHA’s music teacher, Ori Salzberg, students posted a rap video entitled “Raising the Roof” on YouTube, which described how their roof leaked when it rained. It has been viewed almost 10,000 times. Realizing their roof would not cost $100,000, the school decided to “pay it forward.” They are donating money to purchase musical instruments for the James M. Singleton Marching Band in New Orleans. Mayor Galambos honored the students of GHA for making a difference in the life of their school and in the lives of others in a school touched by tragedy. Pictured with the Mayor are GHA’s students who performed the rap and GHA’s Head of School Rabbi Lee Buckman and Music Teacher Ori Salzberg.
