5 STAR HOTELS IN DUSSELDORF

This aerial photo of downtown Davenport in 1962 looks quite a bit different than it does today. Many of the buildings have been torn down, replaced with others, or converted into parking lots or ramps. The double mainline railroad tracks are gone, now just a single line.

Note the large International Harvester logo on the building (left center) which is now gone. The Rock Island Lines depot (top center) is long gone; no need for a depot where over 60 trains a day once stopped.

Is progress really worth it?

I've been having a great time exploring the coast and discovering our wonderful vistas. That's the Davenport cement plant on the far right. I think it's been closed. Long ago there was a wharf there too. all that remains are a couple of rusting pillars. You can see them in the center of the image.
