4CHAN SPAM FILTER

It's not that remarkable a composition, but it's a first for me:

This was done about twelve minutes before sunset, and consists of nine images. I had the camera set to ISO 100, Aperture Mode at f/2.8, and wound up with a shutter speed of 1/500 sec for each of the frames.

I also had an 0.6 (2 stop) hard transition graduated ND filter in front of the camera lens. The transition covers about 1/3 of the 58mm filter thread, and was centered on the lens. This brought the sky down within the same range as the rest of the scene.

The composition on this one really wasn't the point. It's an exposure test. But I'm pleased with how it came out. I think I've got a handle on sunset metering from a KAP rig, and I like how the graduated ND filter behaved in the air.

I don't want to run with this setup, though. This was done using a Hitec rectangular filter holder and a 4" adjustable graduated ND filter. The thing is basically a really heavy, really fragile sail. It threw my rig balance off, put extra load on the tilt servo, and acted like a sand magnet. Considering how much these things cost, that's simply not acceptable.

I'd like to get a screw-on graduated ND filter I can throw in my KAP bag for those times when the situation warrants it. This would make it procedurally no different from using a circular polarizer, which my rig is already balanced for.

A 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Graduate that Jamie saw on his commute to work. This is life immitating art. Dustin Hoffman drove an Alfa Spider in the film "The Graduate" and AR decided to make a commemorative model to cash in on the film's popularity. This "poverty" spec model had winding windows, steering was not power-asist, A/C was optional. I owned a Quadrifoglio Spider that had power everything, standard A/C, hard and soft tops, lots of 'Quad-only details. The Graduate was a throw-back to the old days whereas my car was struggling to be as modern as possible for a design that had been around for more than a generation.
