Summer's End 2008 On 09/02/08 I fell through a false ceiling at work while running network cables, and fell 12-14ft onto a hard tiled floor. Here’s what happened to my not-so-young-anymore body: Fractured my pelvis in two places Fractured my t11 vertebra Have a bone chip or two floating around in my elbow which is also sprained Sprained both rotator cuffs/shoulders Numerous other minor ouchies .. all of which I've been whining incessantly about to Danelle and anyone else unfortunate enough to ask what happened Needless to say I'll be spending some time at home for quite a while. I'll be on the crutches/wheelchair for at least another month, and will be weraing the back brace for at least 3 months. Sadly I think my days of nature shoots are over for a while. I'll have to dive into a macro-world of anything within reach of my "convalescence couch" - cats, carpet lint, the mess on the coffee table, leftover food bits on my TV dinner tray... Danelle has been an incredibly sweet, compassionate and patient nurse, cook, chauffeur, household manager, medication dispenser, errand runner, maseusse cleaning person, kitty mom, fishfeeder, spong-bather, Masseuse, physical therapist, psuchiatrist and most of all my best friend and wife. All in all not the funnest of circumstances, but things could be worse as "they" say. Danelle and I had an incredible adventure-filled summer together, and are so thankful this happened at the END of summer... not to mention being thankful for the little things such as being alive and having use (sort of) of all my limbs!
