The Baby Burrito Swaddling keeps Madeleine as snug as a baby bug in a rug. Or perhaps as snug as a little pinto bean in a Chipotle burrito? That sounds better to me. After a couple of weeks home from the hospital, we went off swaddling. Maddie didn't seem to appreciate being bound up in receiving blankets all the time and she had a Houdinian ability to break even the tightest wrap. She just wanted to have those feet free! At first the "Swaddleme" blanket (pictured) seemed a little extreme to us as new parents. It is modified "swaddle system" that is basically a funny shaped fleece blanket with velcro closures. In other words - a baby straightjacket. On the never ending quest for a sounder sleeping baby, however, we recently decided to give it another try. Madeleine is definitely turned off by this thing (she will fuss for about 10 seconds, and then fall asleep for 3-4hours), but hopefully this will improve. True to her reputation, though, Maddie gave us an "I wish I had gone and gotten the camera but it was four in the morning so who in the world would haved cared to do that at that moment" moment the other night. She is figuring out how to break the Swaddleme - in her sleep mind you. There she lay, still strapped in, but with her feet sticking straight out of that seam in the middle. It was fun. It was cute. Especially if you were there. And you were her parents. 4:365 :: Thanks for Choosing me - Happy Mother's Day Each day, Nemo, you teach me things about life I had long forgotten. How to giggle, be silly and how to be who I was meant to be without giving a care in this world. Each day, I wake up to your wonderful smile and sleep to your serene face. On Mother's Day, I want to thank you for choosing me as your mom and letting me raise you - my free spirited baby. I love you, more than you can ever know or feel for anyone else. And I know you love me endlessly too - despite my whacky hair, my cheesy humor and my weird whims. I love how you want me at the end of the day to put you to sleep, and how you want to piggyback ride me around the house. I love how every few minutes you come up to me and ask me to hug you or pick you up, long enough before you spot your next target. I love how you make my messy room even messier and how you spill everything but still want to eat yourself. I love when you try to use my makeup, but instead spoil it all. I love when you get me my shoes and try to put them on me yourself. I love you for so many reasons, and even if I didn't have a reason, I would love you unconditionally. Happy Mother's Day Nemo.. you make me feel worthy.
