Interpol2005
Went to see Interpol, Blonde Redhead opening, in the evening. Great show. Got a halfway decent seat in the balcony. The sound suffered from the usual Paramount Bass Mess problems. Couldn't hear much of the bass guitar at all but a low rumble, and the kick drum thump/boom was 150ms or so after the sound of the beater hitting the head. Blonde Redhead played a few extended, improvised pieces that really got me. Interpol played most (if not all) of the new album and a couple from the first one. Each and every one was great. One interesting tidbit I noticed was the guitarist's cable – it extends offstage (then back on again to the amp), and is constantly in line and at just about the same amount of tension. It's either a tech in the background reeling it out and in, or some pretty good reel system. Anyway, it allowed him to move around without fear of tripping on it. Of course a wireless could do that too, but with some costs.
