THE PARTS OF A VIOLIN : THE PARTS OF
The parts of a violin : Blue alto saxophone The Parts Of A Violin
39/365: Violin bridge dps weekly assignment "bridges" So I'm excited about this photo for a couple of reasons. The first being that I thought of this mid-day at work (I was contemplating how to make a guitar cake for my nephews birthday party this weekend, and it reminded me of my fathers collection of violins...which just so happen to contain a part called a "bridge") so I had been thinking of how I wanted the lighting (after work with the evening sun shining through the window), the angle I wanted to shoot, etc. etc. I was actually envisioning more shadows, and a longer view, but I really liked the look of the strings, so I went with this one. I usually wander around looking for something to shoot, but this one came to me and I was able to plan. Another reason I am quite excited about this, is that it is my first time experimenting with RAW format. I don't quite understand all of the functions I am using yet in the editing program, but I learn better by experimenting, and then reading up on it, versus reading about things first then trying. Kind of backwards, but it's just how I prefer. canon 100mm f2.8 macro lens The back of Jose's violin The sunlight was beautiful. Jose was schlepping up the road for a performance at the Hippodrome in Baltimore ("the Disney shows, they pay the bills," but Jose doesn't think much of the music; he says he can practice the entire Lion King show in part of one afternoon). This is his pride and joy (which costs more than my house; I'm not joking). I was hoping the grain might catch the light nicely, but this pic still comes up short.. He had just finished playing a piece for me when in came Liz. Now here I have to mention that Jose has played for me MANY times over the years, which is why I couldn't help but notice--my mouth hanging open--that when he played the same piece a second time for Liz he played like nothing I've ever heard, like he found a whole new gear! After he left I said to Liz, "Does he always play for you like that?" Liz said, "What do you mean?" In-ter-est-ing . . . The bows for these things look flimsy as shit, they weigh just ounces, but Jose's, which is cracked and repaired, still goes for about 30K (the one he really wants costs twice that).
