1. take the sleeves off of the shirt.

you can either cut them off or take the time to take the stitching out. it is important to keep the shoulders intact.

2. figure out the size that you want for your child.

i used an A-line dress that i know fits my daughter as a "template" to get a general idea of the size. add about 3/4 - 1" when you mark to allow for seams.

3. mark the dress.

4. cut the dress out, reserving the excess fabric on the bottom of the shirt for the ties.

This shirt was a dress shirt that my oldest son outgrew. Instead of taking it to Goodwill, I decided to upcycle it and make a dress for Miss C. This would have worked out better if it had been a mans dress shirt, but it still turned out cute!

Usually you drift off to sleep and dream about normal stuff like showing up to the bus stop in your underwear. Then one day, you dream that there's a snake inexplicably doing its best to constrict your arm right off! Most likely, your late-night binge of vanilla ice cream and hot sauce caused some severe gastric disturbances which were transmitted to your brain while you slept. Another theory is that your spirit animal could have been trying to tell you to lay off the hot sauce, thus why it was ripping your arm off. Either way, it was pretty trippy. To top off the weirdness, you woke up wearing this strangely familiar tee from RVCA's Artist Network Program. Perhaps it's time to switch to traditional ice cream toppings.
