The Blind 2

The Blind 2

A word about the blind: It was wooden, roughly 6 feet x 4 feet. Anchored at the edge of the water. Well protected from behind, shorter in the front, bench to sit on, ledge to set shells, calls, coffee. The outside step was covered by several inches of water... Here, Dash was watching the moon set..... My 12 ga Mossberg 500 rests in the corner.... I had sprung for a box of #2 Blindside non-toxic ammo

My View of Wilma

My View of Wilma

My Tiny Cottage "The Happy Palm" had plywood covering 1 big window in the kitchen, a huge hurricane shutter was dropped over my big slider also in the kitchen. It covered all but about 2 feet which I crawled under in the middle of the storm to check on my car and feel 115 mph winds. I also have a metal door I peaked out to discover the 50 year old Avacado tree had been blown over. This window was not covered during the hurricane and this was my view during the storm. You can see the power & phone lines (there are 3) that slapped on my Happy Palm almost the whole time. I could also see turquoise light flashing just beyond my fence, and tree limbs breaking.

Working Hands Set-Up

Working Hands Set-Up

This is the set-up for the "working hands" photo. I was sitting where the tripod and bear are now which is about 3 feet in front of the bench. I started out directly in front of the bench but that didn't give me the effect I wanted. So I experimented with distances and 3 feet seemed to work nicely. The camera was positioned another 6 feet directly in front of the bear.

There is a black poster board behind the bears on the bench to eliminate the slats which I thought might be distracting.

My flash is stuck inside my DIY softbox which has a DIY grid on the front for a soft spotlight effect. This was positioned on camera right hitting the bear at an angle and still providing enough light for the background bears. The window shades are open for this set-up shot but were closed for the "working hands" photo which made the room quite dark.

Looking back, I should have placed a reflector to the left of the bear to bounce a little light onto the top of my left hand. Oh well, next time :o)

DIY bathroom darkroom

DIY bathroom darkroom

My "darkroom" is a bathroom I share with 3 other people. So, I have to be able to put together and take apart my setup quickly.

I would prefer to have a dedicated darkroom space. But a quick DIY setup is doable for B&W film processing.

I'd like to be able to print, but I don't have the space for an enlarger and trays. An Epson Perfection V500 film/photo scanner is what I use in its place.

Things of importance not pictured here: black construction-grade trash bags (in stead of blackout plastic / dark shades) covering the window and door held in place with black painters tape (because it peels-off with out damaging the walls), and the film drying clips hanging from the ceiling-fan in my bedroom.

Went to an amazing restaurant called 'Papageno' in the heart of 'Theatre-Land' in the Covent Garden/Haymarket area which can only be described as having an eclectic atmosphere of opera and Aladins Cave, with props hanging around everywhere. One of these many stain-glass lamp-shades caught my eye, so I thought I just had to take a photo, which is very pretty.

365.304 - To Make You Feel My Love

365.304 - To Make You Feel My Love

When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I would offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love

When evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love

I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
There's no doubt in my mind where you belong

I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue
I'd go crawling down the avenue
There ain't nothing' that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love

The storms are raging on a rolling sea
Down the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
But you ain't seen nothin' like me yet

There ain't nothin' that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of the earth for you
Make you happy, make your dreams come true
To make you feel my love

Little Shwiggitty Finds A Bloated Floater

Little Shwiggitty Finds A Bloated Floater

Photoshop:
Layer 1: Scrapbook effect-color adjustments made to match the trees
Layer 2: St. Paul's Cathedral @ Cathedral Square, Milwaukee. Applied an effect/filter...can't remember what (sorry)...color adjusted towards a green low saturation
Layer 3 (Right Tree): Copy from another photo taken from St. Paul's inside the Meditation Garden...enlarged and eliminated other trees and background architecture, sometimes with that magenetic lasso that Michael was talking about (thank you, Teach!). Color adjusted.
Layer 4 (A few foreground leaves): Copied a few leaves, then magnetic lassoed the background and deleted it.
Layer 5 (Left Trees): Same as Layer 3
Layer 6 (Patch, the cat...or her stage name "Shwiggitty"): Cut from a photo taken in the kitchen...eliminated horrid white and grey square patterned linoleum tiles (can't I just do this in real life?) and decreased her size to fit her into the window, greened her up a bit to mesh better with the rest of the image...soft edger eraser in order to keep her softness
Layer 7 (The bloated floater): Tucked layer in between the Right tree and Leaves layer in order to create a little more depth. Erased the "Applebees" Logo off the balloon and cloned over companion shades over that area plus the reflection of my kitchen windows which glowed like bloated diamonds on the balloon...there must have been an easier and more direct way to do this! Increased saturation and lightened the balloon.
Layer 1: Painted a soft line underneath the edges of the image.

Something like that.

Tintern Abbey

Tintern Abbey

It's always a challenge to shoot an image like this, due to the extreme lighting variation between the shaded interior and the brightly lit exterior. I shot this image slightly over-exposed, using the advantages of RAW image processing to my advantage. First, I bumped the exposure up another 1/2 step from the original to brighten the shadows a bit, then I selected the overexposed window scenes using PhotoShop's "magnetic lasso tool" and adjusted the levels to what you see here.

St. George Episcopal Church

St. George Episcopal Church

St. George Episcopal Church, Flushing, Queens

Prominently sited on Main Street in the heart of downtown Flushing, St. George's (Episcopal) Church is a notable example of Gothic Revival design. Erected in 185354, this impressive stone building is the congregation's third church building on the site since 1746. The large size of St. George's is indicative of the importance of Flushing as a major regional center during the nineteenth century, A rare surviving work in New York City by the leading ecclesiastical architects Wills & Dudley, St. George's is a major example of ecclesiological church architecture. A philosophical reform movement that had widespread influence on American Protestant Episcopal church design in the nineteenth century, ecclesiology sought spiritual renewal by returning to the rituals and architectural forms of the medieval church. Its architectural precepts are reflected at St. George's in the clear expression of the interior spaces in the exterior massing, in the straightforward use of the materials, and in the inclusion of certain details derived from medieval architecture, such as the high pitched roofs and lofty tapered spire, which the ecclesiologists imbued with symbolic meaning. The design is also noteworthy for handsome walls of randomly-laid granite rubble trimmed with dressed red sandstone and stained glass windows in wood tracery derived from English Perpendicular and Decorated Gothic sources. In 1894, the church was enlarged by the addition of a new chancel wing that matched the older parts of the church in materials and detailing and incorporated exceptionally fine stained glass windows. The 1907 Neo-gothic Old Parish House, designed by the prominent architect Charles C. Haigh t, complements the church building and features a skillfully composed asymmetrical design. The church and parish house are located in a landscaped churchyard that contains approximately fifty gravestones and memorials dating from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries.

In 1997 St. George's Parish celebrated its 235th anniversary on Main Street in Flushing. Over the years, St. George's has adapted to meet the needs of the Flushing community and remains an important neighborhood institutioa50 It now offers worship services and community programs in English, Spanish, and Chinese to its congregation that includes immigrants from Asia, South and Central America, Europe, and Africa. The churchyard, church, and Old Parish House are visual reminders of St. George's historic role in the development of Hushing and the church and Old Parish House are notable examples of Gothic Revival design.

Description

St. George's Episcopal Church complex occupies a large through-the-block comer lot that has frontages on Main Street, 38th Avenue, and 39lh Avenue. The portion of the lot occupied by the church, the Old Parish
House, the wing connecting the church and Old Parish House, the historic masonry retaining walls and iron fence, and the grounds and graveyard enclosed by the retaining walls are part of this designatioa The New Parish House (which adjoins and is connected internally to the Old Parish House and thel937 extension), the auditorium building (which adjoins and is connected internally to the church chancel and the New Parish House), the yard between the Old and New Parish Houses, and the graveyard and parking lot at the western end of the lot are not included in this designation. The Church

The Gothic Revival style church building consists of a towered entrance porch, nave with clerestory, and side aisles constructed in 1853-54. Because the church is located on the west side of Main Street, the entrance is at the east end of the building and the chancel extends to the west. The chancel wing, built in 1894, replaced the original chancel and vestry. The lower walls of the church are constructed of blue-gray Connecticut granite rubble laid in a random manner. Dressed brownstone is employed as coping for the watertable and buttresses, as string courses delineating the story levels on the tower, and as surrounds for the door and window openings. The roof, frame sidewalls of the clerestory over the nave, and the clerestory buttresses are clad with noil-historic square-cut slate shingles installed in the 1950s. (The roof was originally sheathed in polychrome diamond and fishscale slate shingles laid in a stripe pattern) All of the windows are set in wood tracery frames and contain historic stained glass. A number of modifications, notably the installation of the clerestory buttresses, were made to the building in the 1950s. Main Street Facade: The eastern facade facing Main Street is dominated by a 150 foot tower and spire that projects in front of the main body of the church. At each comer of the tower are stepped double-buttresses. The eastern and southern faces of the tower have pointed-arched entrances approached by stone steps with non-historic iron pipe rails (The front steps have been resurfa

I quickly composed and fired off a few shots, grabbed my tripod and we hustled to the next falls (Bridal Veil Falls). Continue watching my photostream for more details of our harrowing adventure.

G9 telephoto red ribbon cliff

G9 telephoto red ribbon cliff

Instead of carrying the 55-250 mm lens for the XSi and risk dust when changing lenses in the field, I tote the Canon G9, which does nicely when you need a telephoto shot on a hike.

STORY: Monday August 24th, 2009 I drove from my home in Eastern Washington down Oregon highway 97, and then turned right through Sisters, Oregon and up to a trailhead at Jack Lake in the Mt. Jefferson wilderness. The plan was to take Hike # 28 [Canyon Creek Meadows - the 7.5 mile loop] in Sullivan’s “100 hikes in the Central Oregon Cascades” book, at dawn Tuesday morning. Then I hoped to do Hike # 20 [Jefferson Park - 10.2 miles round trip] Wednesday morning.

The last six miles of the dirt road up to the Jack Lake trailhead was rough washboard, so it made for slow driving. I got there just as dark set in on Monday night and crawled into the bed in the back of my canopy equipped pickup truck. The wind was blowing. Even though it was almost dark, I could see a major forest fire had swept the area. There were only two other vehicles parked at the trailhead and I could see a “camp light” across Jack Lake.

I woke up in the middle of the night and exited my truck canopy bed for one of those camping exigencies. I was treated with one of the most beautiful views of a night time sky, complete with the Milky Way, which I haven't seen in quite some time. Beautiful.

A forest ranger arrived at the trailhead at around 6 am to check the wilderness permits at the trailhead register and clean up the trailhead latrine. After I saw him leave, I got up and got ready to hike. The first part of the Canyon Creek Meadows hike is pretty pedestrian - through the forest (both burned and a portion that survived the fire). But once I reached the lower meadow and got my first of Three Fingered Jack, I knew this would be a great hike.

Note: The B & B forest fire as it was called, burned nearly a third of the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness Forest in a spectacular 2003 event. Remember though as you see the burned forest, that some forests can not regenerate WITHOUT fire, so it is part of a natural process that has been going on for millions of years, before man started trying to “control” natural fires AND started starting unnatural forest fires of his own.

Following the guidebook’s instructions, I climbed the rounded terminal moraine mounds that dam the canyon that forms the mountain cirque lake (suspended glacial silt - aqua marine). Then I hiked the lateral moraine path along the top of the moraine ridge and up to the high saddle “viewpoint”. From here you could see Mt. Washington and the Sisters to the south, and Mt. Jefferson looming to the north. Also a nice view of the fire lookout topped cinder cone, called Black Mesa.

I took off my day pack and lingered at least a half an hour at the saddle viewpoint. It had taken me two hours to reach that point. It would take me an hour and half to complete the trail loop and arrive back at my truck.

Back at my truck, the thought occurred to me that I had plenty of time left for a 10 mile hike to Jefferson Park (Hike # 20 in Sullivan’s book), so I decided to drive back to the town of Sisters (a cool clean nice little town), where I had seen a forest ranger center on the way in. I wanted to pick up a good Mt. Jefferson Wilderness map and get the latest trail info from a forest service ranger.

Well folks, the next hike turned out to be not nearly as good as the Three Fingered Jack hike. After buying the map and spreading it out in front of a nice lady ranger, I pointed out the Woodpecker Ridge trail. It seemed to me, that though I would hike a bit further and might not reach Jefferson Park, that this route would allow me to do at least three miles more of the hike, along the Pacific Crest Trail. I asked if the views of Mt. Jefferson along that portion of the PCT were good. The ranger said “yes” (she was wrong). I asked about the crossing of Russell Creek, shown as potentially dangerous on the map, and we both agreed that the water level shouldn’t be that high or bad (we were both wrong). I asked about the road, FR40, leading to the trailhead of Woodpecker Ridge Trail (Trail 3442). The lady forest ranger said that the road was good (she was right).

I sat down in the forest service center and looked over the map well, then made up my mind that I would hike the Woodpecker Ridge access trail 3442 to the PCT then hike north as far as I could make it toward Jefferson Park, turning around, no matter where that might be, to make certain I could return to my truck at the Woodpecker TH by dark. I went back up to the counter and let the lady ranger know of my decision (always good to let somebody know where you are).

It was exactly two in the afternoon, when I arrived at the Woodpecker Ridge Trailhead. The trail sign had been vandalized, so I had to get out and look closely to make certain that yeah verily; this was the trailhead for hike 3442. It was. Now I became infuriated. The forest service had posted signs about t

Three Fingered Jack - last look

Three Fingered Jack - last look

Heading back down Canyon Creek and the lower meadows after a nice hike up to the viewpoint saddle. I turned to take one more photo of Three Fingered Jack, before disappearing into the "ghost forest" left by the big 2003 forest fire.

Homecoming - House on the Hill

Homecoming - House on the Hill

I basically grew up in this house. We moved in when I was 4, and it's the only house that I lived in with my parents that totally felt like home. I know my parents liked the house that my Mom owns now best, where we moved when I was 18, but this one is it for me.

I wish I had a photo of this house when we moved in. The yard looked nothing like this. My parents, my Dad especially, spent so much time making it their own. I remember when the trees weren't much bigger than I was. Except for the stunted one in the middle. That was always supposed to grow up and offer beautiful shade, but I don't think anything grew very well on that hill. The grass was always kind of brown too.

But, Dad built a fence, planted trees, built a gravel driveway space with red-painted retaining walls, planted a hedge on the west property line, and put ivy on the west wall, which looks like it has lasted. Dad built a deck on the east side of the house, and Mom planted gardens. We had raspberries, sometimes rhubarb. And there were bushes with yellow flowers and ones with purple flowers that were always buzzing with bees in the summer.

Dad built cat houses, too. I wonder if he always wished we'd gotten a dog? I don't know. But he enjoyed messing around building things, and so he set to work building a house that the cats could use in the winter when it was cold. The first one was a model that sat in the yard near the back fence. It was quite attractive, with cedar siding and insulated with styrofoam and a blanket. But the cats couldn't see out, so I don't think they used it much. But then he built one with plexiglass on the front and a little window at the side, and put it on top of the fence against the wall of the house. Smudge loved it. She was always in there, and she would come out of it when you came home, meowing away. Smudge is buried in that yard, actually. She was 17 when she died. I was 16. She'd been our cat for as long as I'd been alive. Dad built another one, on stilts, at the new house on Aspen Drive. It was perhaps the most attractive one he'd built, but it rarely got used. It didn't have any plexiglass.

The yard once had one of those trees all kids in Alberta (Canada?) used to be given in grade 1, the little evergreens, somewhere to the left of this picture. But it got yanked out by Marc's little sister Christina before it ever had a chance to take root. I don't know why she did it. A little green corner of my heart died that day, though. Honestly. I was quite distraught.

There are so many things I remember about this house. I could never tell them all. One thing I remember well is how often we kids would play on the hill: me, Marc, Steven, Jason before he moved to Chilliwack, Neil later on. It seemed so much bigger then. I'm sure this didn't help Dad's attempts to coax the grass to life, but we invented a game called Timber. The rules were simple: the sidewalk was out of bounds, and we started at the top and tried to drag each other to the bottom. Everyone had 3 lives and the first one to knock everyone else out was the winner. The winner would gloat for a bit, and then we'd do it over again.

Many Shades of Green.

Many Shades of Green.

THE WEARING OF THE GREEN.

" O Paddy dear, and did you hear the news that going round ?
The shamrock is forbid by law to grow on Irish ground ;
St. Patrick's Day no more we'll keep, his colours can't be seen,
For there's a bloody law against the wearing of the green.
I met with Napper Tandy and he took me by the hand,
And he said, " How's poor old Ireland, and how does she stand ? "
She's the most distressful counterie that ever yet was seen,
And they're hanging men and women for the wearing of the green.

Then since the colour we must wear is England's cruel red,
Sure Ireland's sons will ne'er forget the blood that they have shed.
You may take a shamrock from your hat and cast it on the sod,
It will take root and flourish there though underfoot it's trod.
When law can stop the blades of grass from growing as they grow,
And when the leaves in summer-time their verdure dare not show,
Then will I change the colour that I wear in my caubeen
But 'till that day, please God, I'll stick to wearing of the green.

But if at last our colour should be torn from Ireland's heart,
Our sons with shame and sorrow from this dear old isle will par t;
I've heard a whisper of a land that lies beyond the sea
Where rich and poor stand equal in the light of freedom's day.
O Erin, must we leave you driven by a tyrant's hand ?
Must we ask a mother's blessing from a strange and distant land ?
Where the cruel cross of England shall nevermore be seen,
And where, please God, we'll live and die still wearing of the green !

Dion Boucicault (1820-1890).

[ Dion Boucicault was an Irish playwright born in Dublin. Inspired by America's successful revolution against British rule, many Irish thought the time was ripe for independence. The colour green became a symbol of sympathy for Irish independence, and the British actually began executing people found wearing anything of the colour green.

The pen, however, is mightier than the sword, and this powerful poem was the response. Napper Tandy, mentioned in it, was a Dublin shopkeeper who, having been identified by the British as a freedom fighter, had to flee to France. And Boucicault himself fled to America. ]

Hurry Up, We're Dreaming

2011 two CD release from the Electronic/Dream Pop band led by French singer/songwriter Anthony Gonzalez. Produced by Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, NIN, The Mars Volta, Goldfrapp) and including contributions from Brad Laner (from 90's band Medicine) on guitar, Saturdays=Youth vocalist Morgan Kibby, and guest vocalist Zola Jesus, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming is a double-album journey that takes us to the horizon and introduces us to new landscapes. About awakening, craving, and conquering, Hurry Up, We're Dreaming pushes into new vocal territory for M83. Here we see Gonzalez test out different ways of singing, ranging from a spectral breathy whisper to a howling scream.

Saturdays=Youth

For M83's chief star-gazer Anthony Gonzalez, his youth is something he looks back upon with affection, something that has become the defining theme of his enchanting new album, "Saturdays = Youth" Recorded with Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Sugar Cubes, Cocteau Twins, Suede) and Ewan Pearson (Tracey Thorn, The Rapture, Ladytron) "Saturdays = Youth" delivers the rich sonic textures for which M83 is well known - this time with a more focused approach to song structure and form.

For their fifth album, Saturdays = Youth, France's M83 conjures up the 1980s in all their candy-colored glory. Even the cover portrait, showcasing models in rolled-sleeve blazers, peg-leg pants, and pastel prom dresses, evokes John Hughes' high-school classics Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. In the liner notes, singer/multi-instrumentalist Anthony Gonzalez thanks the individuals who "made my teenager years so great!" and in "Graveyard Girl," he name-checks Molly Ringwald (he also takes a page from the Air playbook with allusions to stars, rockets, and other notebook-doodle favorites). There's a difference, however, between poaching from the past and recreating it. Despite the abundance of pretty-boy (and girl) vocals, oceanic keyboards, and big electronic beats--recalling '80s icons from Simple Minds to Kate Bush--Saturdays feels more like an affectionate tribute than a cynical carbon copy. Like the couple at the heart of "Kim and Jessie," Gonzalez is "crazy about romance and illusions," but all is not sweetness and light as a few numbers betray a Tim Burton-style Goth influence, which helps to alleviate any potential sugar shock. Saturdays = Youth is a precious gift from a secret admirer, wrapped in ambience and sealed with a blood-red kiss. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

With the new paint color: Glacier Mist. It looks bluish in the photo, but it came out more on the lavender side in reality. It will look really good with some Navy blue thrown in. I'm going to get some navy blue striped Roman shades, and I'm considering a new rug (the current one is black and grey).

I didn't really realize how small the room was (I mean, I know it's small, but I measured it finally) and it's only about 7.5 wide, not including the area where the door is. Just usable space. 7.5x11. Teeny!

Cornus racemosa (gray dogwood)

Cornus racemosa (gray dogwood)

The Gray Dogwood, 'Cornus racemosa', is a deciduous shrub which typically occurs in moist or rocky ground along streams, ponds, wet meadows, glade and prairie margins, thickets and rocky bluffs. It grows 10-15' tall and features white flowers borne in terminal racemes (hence the species name of racemosa) in late spring and grayish-green, elliptic to lance-shaped leaves (2-4" long). Foliage turns an interesting dusky purplish red in fall. Terminal stems holding the flowers are distinctively red and provide interesting contrast to the clusters of small white berries which form after the flowers have dropped.
Red stem color is more easily seen after the fruits are gone, and red color often persists into early winter. Excellent when planted in groups and left alone to spread in naturalized areas or native plant gardens. Also effective in shrub borders, along streams or ponds or near buildings or when planted as a screen. Can be particularly useful because of its ability to grow in poor soils. Easily grown in average, medium wet, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Tolerant of city air pollution.

The Budding of The Flowering Quince

The Budding of The Flowering Quince

FYI:
The flowering quince is an easy to grow, round-topped, deciduous shrub growing 6 feet tall and 10 feet across. This shrub is a mass of tangled, thorny branches with mundane foliage. But, in spring the beast becomes a beauty with showy single or double blossoms. The flowering quince produces stout thorns.

Quince foliage emerges maroon-green in the spring just as the flowers are fading. The tangled branches and thorns of the flowering quince make it an excellent security barrier plant. This shrub can also be espaliered (trained to grow against a wall) and is a popular bonsai choice. It prefers full sun, which is needed for best ornamental display, although it is tolerant of partial shade.

Flowering quince, provided the flowers are not killed by a late freeze, will produce a hard, ugly, pear-like fruit. These tart fruit can be used in jelly making. Pruning the quince encourages better blooming and helps to keep the tangled branches under control.

This well-loved classic won the RITA for romantic suspense.

Jobless, flat broke and itching for some new scenery, disc jockey Maddie Smith figures a trip to Nebraska to see what's going on with her flaky, estranged sister is as good a plan as any. It seems that after a brief encounter with sexy reclusive Eddie Berlin, baby sister vanished without a trace.

Maddie Smith has never been one to hang around any place too long. After losing her job as a late-night disc jockey, she has little reason to stay in Tucson. When she receives a message that her estranged sister has disappeared, she figures she might as well go to Nebraska and see what's up with her unreliable sibling. There she learns that her sister is linked to the mysterious Eddie Berlin, a recluse and a very sexy guy. Maddie takes a personal interest in Eddie as she searches for clues about the disappearance of her sister.
Meanwhile, Eddie is shouldering problems of his own. The former manager of a pop star killed by a crazed fan, Eddie feels responsible for the singer's death, and as a result, he hasn't wandered off his own property in more than four years. Still, he is attracted to Maddie, experiencing feelings he thought he would never know again. A stolen tape of a recording made by the late rock star and other clues bind the couple together. It soon becomes clear that these two deserve each other, and when they finally feel comfortable with the fit, they find they are greater as a pair than they could ever have been as individuals.
The encounters between Maddie and Eddie are anything but typical. Both are insecure, yet somehow they manage to muddle through. Author Theresa Weir has created them to be very human, characters the readers feel connected to as they witness their lives unfold.

Forest Fairy Skinny Cuff with Gold Beaded Flowers

Forest Fairy Skinny Cuff with Gold Beaded Flowers

A magical cuff decorated with metallic gold swirls and textural embroidery and delicate beaded flowers!

The base of the cuff is mossy green linen which I painted with subtle swirls of metallic gold acrylic paint. I then embroidered along the design in swirls of forest green and taupe and accented the swirling pattern with tiny little shiny gold colored size 15 rocaille seed beads. The center of the cuff features three beaded flowers in shades of gold and taupe. The closure is a brown button accented with more gold beads with a silky rat tail cored loop. The cuff is designed to fit a 7.25 inch (18.4 cm) wrist. If your wrist is significantly smaller, please convo me and I will move the button in. The cuff is not meant to be worn loosely on the wrist.

The entire edge has been finished with a row of brick stitched matte bronze beads. The inside of the cuff is lined with light green ultrasuede which is very soft and comfortable against the skin.

Please note that all the beadwork is attached with multiple strands of sturdy nymo thread.

Emerald Green and Gold Starburst Earrings

Emerald Green and Gold Starburst Earrings

Another pair of earrings from my starburst series; this time with post backs and in an emerald green color scheme. The earrings start with a 12 mm Swarovski rivoli in the center captured in a peyote bezel made with 24K gold plated delicas. The centerpiece is surrounded by 2 rows of beads in varying shades of green and then finished with a green and gold picot stitch edging. They are backed with leather which was sealed with gold acrylic paint to repel moisture and the posts and earnuts are sterling silver.

The overall diameter of the earrings is 1.125 inches (28.6 mm), and the posts are located toward the top of the back.

"Caterina Cammino is an attractive and reclusive thirty-five-year-old woman whose nightly ritual is to go to the beach and drink wine from the bar of her car. Though alcohol is her crutch and companion, it can’t erase the memory of the summer of 1988 when she lost her innocence--and awoke to a scream.
Tyler Beck is an intellectually gifted eighteen-year-old loner who has an invisible, magical cord above his right shoulder; he is also a former drug addict who was rehabilitated with the help of a counselor named Robie. After Robie dies, however, a distraught Beck exits his friend’s funeral and seeks refuge at the beach—and in heroin.
Their lives collide when Caterina’s car strikes a trashcan that crashes into the semi-conscious Beck. When they both ask aloud for help, the grieving parts of themselves are transported to another dimension called 10-17. Caterina arrives in this dimension as her seventeen-year-old self, Cat, and there she meets Beck, whom she nicknames Ty. Once in this new world, set against a backdrop of Italy, they meet a Watcher named Miranda who tells them that they are in 10-17 for healing, even while their parallel lives are continuing on Earth. Miranda explains that the dimensions are spaced like slats on a window blind; she also tells the teenagers about a place called Thare, an Earth-like dimension populated by humans, but without suffering or addiction.
While Beck readily embraces his love for the mature Caterina, she is conflicted over her feelings for a man half her age. Meanwhile, in Dimension 10-17, as Cat and Ty complete their lesson, they are torn over the choice that Miranda offers them: To go to the “perfect” world of Thare and leave the Earth and their families behind, or to return wholly to their Earthly selves..."

Magic Blackout Blind - 50 Square Feet of Static Cling Blackout

Magic Blackout Blind is a supercharged blackout sheet on a roll that sticks with static to any window. Simply roll it out and place it on your window, and Magic Blackout Blind will block out 100% of the light. Magic Blackout Blind is a statically charged polypropylene sheet. 50 square feet of Magic Blackout Blind is included in every roll in 10 perforated sheets that each measure 31.5" x 23.5". This is enough to cover approx. 5 standard windows. You can roll out as much Magic Blackout Blind as you need to cover a large window, or cut the sheets to any size to fit almost any window shape. This versatile product is ideal for children's nurseries, dorms, night shift workers, new homes, RV's and mobile homes. They are also great for when you have overnight visitors or when you are travelling. Each roll weighs less than 2 lbs and fits easily in a suitcase or in the trunk of a car. Magic Blackout Blind is a temporary solution that should stick to your window for many weeks or months, but it may crease in hot conditions and naturally loses its static charge over time. For best results be sure the window is clean and free of dust before putting up the Magic Blackout Blind. The sheets should be taken down to let the window breathe when the room does not need to be blacked out, just as you would a curtain or a blind. When removed from the window the sheets should be stored on a flat surface such as a wall or closet door to help retain the static charge. Magic Blackout Blind can be safely applied to normal single glazed or double glazed windows, the type you typically find in a house or office. Do not apply Magic Blackout Blind to laminated glass, windows strengthened with wire, textured or patterned glass, triple plane glass, Velux windows or similar roof lights. Magic Blackout Blind is recyclable as a #5 plastic. For more information on Magic Blackout Blind and to view a 1-minute product video, visit www.MagicWhiteboardProducts.com.
