In some cases it may be advisable to run inverted angle iron on one side with V-Groove wheels and flat bar stock steel on the other side with a flat faced cast iron or forged steel wheel. V-Groove Wheels are used to control the flow of a load, i.e., into an oven, between machines, over long distances or where "production line" sequence is required. (7) Vespa LX60 Developed on the base of the 2005 Vespa LX, the LX-60 has been conceived as a tribute to the 1960s Vespas. The 1960s: a legendary decade that witnessed the social and cultural revolution that shaped contemporary society, marked by the emergence of youth for whom the Vespa symbolised individual mobility and freedom. The headlamp remains in its original position on the handlebar, like the 1960s scooters from which the Vespa LX-60 is derived, but in a slimmer, more minimalist version to emphasise the unfaired handlebar and make the front of the vehicle a more lightweight look. The analogue instrumentation is placed in a chrome-plated frame while the unique graphics resemble those in vogue in the 1960s. The 'naked' handlebar is a metal tube ending in fine leather handles, also used on the saddle that separates the rider and passenger seats as on the early models. ---------------------------------------- The legendary Italian scooter, the Vespa, celebrated its 60th birthday in 2006. The Vespa's actual birth date was April 23, the day in 1946 when the patent for the innovative two-wheeler was registered in Florence by Piaggio & Co. An aircraft designer by trade, D'Ascanio came up with the idea of producing a cheap, small-engine bike with its gear shift on the handlebar and the motor over the back wheel. This was then covered in a steel cowling which gave the scooter its distinctive shape that made it look like a wasp, which in Italian is vespa. Thanks to its protective front shield and mud guard on the floor, the Vespa kept the rider cleaner and drier than on a traditional motorbike. The scooter was an immediate success, acting as the prototype for all scooters to follow. By 1949, over 35,000 scooters were produced and by the mid-1950s Piaggio was producing the Vespa in Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Indonesia and India. In Britain the Vespa became a cultural icon and in the early 1960s it was the preferred transportation for the young people who defined themselves as 'Mods', compared to the 'Rockers' who rode motorcycles. This period was captured in the 1979 British cult film Quadrophenia. "Contrast" - Two-Wheeling In Pushkar On the last leg of our travels through Rajasthan, Parmita and I decided to include a brief visit to the fabled Hindu pilgrimage town of Pushkar. Pushkar is famous in Hindu lore as the city where Brahma dropped the lotus, and is now the site of the only temple in India devoted to Brahma. It is also supposed to be decidedly picturesque, given that it is a beautiful blue and white stone city built around a lake. To get to Pushkar, one typically transits through Ajmer, (ironically) the most sacred Muslim city in India and a decently large city on the rail line between Udaipur and Delhi. We arrived in Ajmer at 4 AM, checked into our amazingly seedy $6 budget hotel (and I do use the term "hotel" exceptionally loosely), slept for a few hours, then hired a car to take us on the winding 45 minute drive over the mountain passes into Pushkar. As a DSLR-wielding tourist I was particularly excited to get to Pushkar for some shots of the bathing ghats at the water's edge in the city center. However, it should come as no surprise when we arrived in Pushkar that there was no lake. So much for the pictures of the bathing ghats. I did come back with what I thought to be a fairly interesting shot of these two-wheeled transportation staples, though. I chose to submit this for contrast based on a number of contrasts running throughout the shot, namely: (1) motorized versus non-motorized means of transport, a contrast particularly characteristic of India where you're just as likely to take a bicycle rickshaw as an autorickshaw, (2) the colorful Hindi posters against the blank, nondescript wall, and (3) the contrasts in the hues between the doors, bikes, and posters. Aaaaand...that's all for now, folks. vespa 3 wheel scooter Speed rating J (62 mph) Scooterworks is proud to be the sole importer of Vee Rubber scooter tires to the United States. Alfa Romeo Bertone GT 1300 Junior Coupé (1970) Designer: Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone (1962) year of first delivery/registration: 1970 dohc-aluminium-engine (twin cam) cylinders: R4 (in-line) cubic capacity: 1290 cc power: 88 PS 28 August 2011, Berlin Neukolln The Alfa Romeo 105/115 series Coupes were a range of cars manufactured from 1963 until 1977. They were the successors to the celebrated Giulietta Sprint coupe and used a shortened floorpan from the Giulia Berlina car. These appealing cars were made in a wide variety of models over a period of 13 years, so they provide a lot of material for study by Alfa Romeo enthusiasts. The basic body shape shared by all models was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro for Bertone. It was one of his first major projects for Bertone, and borrowed heavily from his earlier design for the Alfa Romeo 2000 Sprint/2600 Sprint. The balance of glass and metal, the influence of the shape of the front and rear glass on the shape of the cabin, and the flat grille with incorporated headlamps were groundbreaking styling features for the era. All models feature the four cylinder, all-light-alloy Alfa Romeo Twin Cam engine in various cubic capacities from 1290 cc to 1962 cc. All versions of this engine fitted to the 105 series coupes featured twin carburettors. Competition models featured cylinder heads with twin spark plugs. Common to all models was also a 5-speed manual transmission and disc brakes on all four wheels. The rear suspension uses a beam axle with coil springs. Air conditioning and a limited slip rear differential were optional on the later models. The 105 series coupes featured the GT (Gran Turismo) model description, which was common to all models in one form or another. The various different models in this range can be considered in two broad categories. On one hand were the various Gran Turismos and Gran Turismo Veloces. These were meant to be the most sporting cars in the Alfa Romeo range and sold very well to enthusiastic motorists around the world. The first model available was the Giulia Sprint GT (1963) which evolved into the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce (1965), the 1750 GTV (1968) and the 2000 GTV (1972–1976), with engines increasing in cubic capacity from 1570 cc (Giulia Sprint GT/GTV) through 1779 cc (1750 GTV) to 1962 cc (2000 GTV). On the other hand was the GT Junior range, which featured engines with smaller cubic capacities. GT Juniors sold in great numbers to people who wanted a sporting, stylish car that handled well, but either did not require the maximum in engine power, or could not afford the taxation on larger engine capacities in some markets - most notably, Alfa Romeo's home Italian market. Junior models began with the first GT 1300 Junior in 1966. The GT 1300 Junior continued until 1976 with the 1290 cc engine and various modifications incorporating features from the evolution of the GT's and GTV's. From 1972 a GT 1600 Junior model was also available, with the 1570 cc engine. Both categories were used to derive GTA ("Allegerita") models, which were specifically intended for competition homologation in their respective engine size classes. The GTA's featured extensive modifications for racing, so they were priced much higher than the standard models and sold in much smaller numbers. Practically all GTA's made were used in competition, where they had a long and successful history in various classes and category. These models included the Giulia Sprint GTA and GTA 1300 Junior. The 2000 GTV (Tipo: 105.21) was introduced in 1971 together with the 2000 Berlina sedan and 2000 Spider “Fastback” (Series 2). The 2000 range was the replacement for the 1750 range. Once again the engine was rationalized throughout the range. The engine displacement was increased to 1962 cc with a change of the bore and stroke to 84 mm ? 88.5 mm. Oil and radiator capacities remained unchanged. The engine produced 132 PS (97 kW; 130 hp) at 5500 rpm. The interior trim was also changed, with the most notable differences being the introduction of a separate instrument cluster, instead of the gauges installed in the dash panel in earlier cars.Externally the 2000 GTV is most easily distinguished by the following features: Grille with horizontal chrome bars, featuring protruding blocks forming the familiar Alfa heart in outline; Smaller hubcaps with exposed wheel nuts; Optional aluminum alloy wheels of the same size as the standard 5. 1/2J ? 14 steel items, styled to the "turbina" design first seen on the alloy wheels of the Alfa Romeo Montreal. "Turbina" refers to the wheel's resemblance to a jet engine inlet; The larger rear light clusters first fitted to United States market 1750 GTV's were standard for all markets on the 2000 GTV.The 2000 GTV is most easily distinguished by its different grille. From 1974 on, this became standard on the GT 1300 Junior and GT 1600 Junior as well when the 105 Series coupe models were rationalized and these external features became common to post-1974 GT 1300 Junior a Spare re-mounted on new Alloy wheel Got the spare remounted. Duke Ellington 1813 T St. NW Edward Kennedy "Duke" Ellington (April 29, 1899 – May 24, 1974), also known simply as Duke, was an American jazz composer, pianist, and bandleader. Many regard Duke Ellington as the most important figure to emerge from the U.S. jazz scene in the twentieth century, although Ellington himself might have quibbled with the description, as he was reluctant to describe his work as anything more specific than "music". The word "jazz" was too narrow for Ellington, a man whose greatest compliment was to describe others who had impressed him as "beyond category". Indeed, Ellington has proved to be enigmatic, slipping through the easy classifications of biographers. Musicians run into much the same kind of problem when dealing with Ellington's compositions. Musically, he wore many hats, and he could never settle on just one. Through the ranks of Duke Ellington's Orchestra passed some of the biggest names in jazz, including Johnny Hodges, Cootie Williams, Bubber Miley, Joe "Tricky Sam" Nanton, Barney Bigard, Ben Webster, Harry Carney, Sonny Greer, Otto Hardwick, Clark Terry, Jimmy Blanton, Ray Nance, Paul Gonsalves, and Wellman Braud. Many of these musicians played in Ellington's orchestra for decades, and while most were noteworthy in their own right, it was Ellington's musical genius that melded them into one of the most well-known orchestral units in the history of jazz. Ellington and his band (in its various incarnations) were prolific. Ellington was one of the twentieth century's best-known African-American celebrities. He recorded for many American record companies, and appeared in several films. Ellington and his orchestra toured the whole of the United States and Europe regularly before World War II. After the war, they continued to travel widely internationally. Duke's father, James Edward Ellington, born in Lincolnton, North Carolina on April 15, 1879, was the son of a former slave. He moved to Washington, D.C. in 1886 with his family. Ellington was born to J.E. and Daisy Kennedy Ellington at 2129 Ward Place NW (the home of his maternal grandparents) in Washington. J.E. made blueprints for the United States Navy; he also worked as a White House butler for additional income. Daisy and J.E. were both piano players, and at the age of seven or eight Ellington began taking piano lessons from a Mrs. Clinkscales who lived at 1212 Street NW (the address erroneously, but commonly, given as his childhood home). In his autobiography, Ellington claims he missed more lessons than he went to, feeling that the piano was not his talent. Over time, this would change. Ellington snuck into Frank Holiday's Poolroom at fourteen and began to gain a greater respect for music. Hearing a mentor play the piano ignited Ellington's love for the instrument and he began to take his piano studies seriously. He began performing professionally at the age of seventeen. Instead of going to an academic-oriented high school, he attended Armstrong Manual Training School to study commercial art. Three months before he was to graduate, he left school to pursue his interest in the piano. Duke Ellington began his artistic career as a sign painter in Washington, D.C., but by 1923 he had formed a small dance band known as The Washingtonians (which included drummer Sonny Greer), and moved to New York City. Shortly thereafter, the group became the house band of the Club Kentucky (often referred to as the "Kentucky Club"), an engagement which set the stage for the biggest opportunity in Ellington's life. In 1927, King Oliver turned down a job as the house band for Harlem's famed Cotton Club, and the offer fell into Ellington's lap. With a weekly radio broadcast and famous clientele pouring in nightly to see them, Ellington's popularity skyrocketed. Ellington's band had become a large orchestra and the ranks had been filled by many men who would later become famous in their own right. Trumpeter Bubber Miley was the first major soloist, an early experimenter in jazz trumpet growling. Miley is credited with morphing the band's style from rigid dance instrumentation to a more "New Orleans" or earthy style. An alcoholic, Miley had to leave the band before they gained wider notoriety, and died in 1930 at the age of twenty-eight. Johnny Hodges joined the orchestra in 1928 and stayed until his death in 1970, except for two brief sabbaticals. Hodges became the band's undisputed superstar soloist, the king of romantic alto saxophone ballads with his swooning, creamy style remaining influential for years. Barney Bigard, formerly a member of King Oliver's band, was a master of New Orleans jazz clarinet and stayed with the band for twelve years. Harry Carney was one of the original innovators of the baritone saxophone, winning each Downbeat magazine poll until the arrival of Gerry Mulligan. Carney, who also pioneered circular breathing, was the longest lasting member of the orc See also: 5th wheel towing trucks roller skate wheels bearings meals on wheels inc timken wheel bearing hub assembly front second hand wheel alignment equipment calibre vintage wheels pickup truck wheels hot wheels stunt track driver pc download |

(11) B25 Mitchell II The B-25 Mitchell is a medium bomber developed at the end of the ‘thirties by order of the U.S. Army.As in this country,an independent air force did not yet formally exist there. What we call the U.S. Air Force now was known at the time as the U.S. Army Air Corps. As early as March 1939 the U.S. Army Air Corps directed the American aircraft industry to develop a medium bomber. It had to be able to carry a 3000-pound bomb load over a distance of at least 2000 miles. The very latest Pratt & Whitney and Wright radial engines were to be considered as potential power plants. The Martin, Douglas, Stearman and North American factories submitted their respective designs, the NAA design being chosen as the winner. The prototype flew on August 19th 1940, as the first of a total production run of 9889 examples. The Mitchell was named after the American general Billy Mitchell, who, shortly after the First World War, made vigorous pleas for creating an independent air force. He was reviled for his views, was forced to leave the army, but was rehabilitated posthumously. Among the first great exploits of the Mitchell is the Tokyo Raid. After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941 the United States got involved in the war. General Jimmy Doolittle led a formation of Mitchell bombers in an attack on targets in Japan. The aircraft had taken off from an aircraft carrier in the Pacific Ocean. The Mitchell served on many fronts during the Second World War. The Dutch government was the first foreign buyer of the bomber. It had been ordered for service with the ML-KNIL, the Military Aviation department of the Royal Dutch East Indian Army. In addition, the Mitchell was bought or leased for operations with 320 (Dutch) Squadron in the Royal Air Force. After the war the Mitchell served in the Dutch East Indies during the anti-insurgency actions. Most of the aircraft were handed over to the Indonesian Air Force. In this country the Mitchell continued in MLD service up to 1954 with 320 Squadron, which was disbanded in 2005. The aircraft was especially used as a search-and-rescue plane, such as during the February 1953 flooding disaster. The Mitchell in the SKHV fleet was acquired by a few private persons in 1989. After its transfer to the Netherlands in May 1990 the aircraft became the flagship of the DBAF/Duke of Brabant Air Force. A few years later the aircraft was bought by the DBAF. Its N320SQ registration keeps the memory of the Dutch crews alive. Partly at the request of the KLu the veteran bomber was added to the SKHV fleet in 2004, at the start of the close cooperation between the SKHV and the DBAF. Taken from the SKHV website HDR: Lamborghini Gallardo Source: Wikipedia. It is powered by a new 5.2L V10 with direct injection, with improved power and torque. Unlike the precedent engine, this engine no longer has split crankpins, so it is not even firing, but Lamborghini says that due to the stiffer crankshaft it has less vibrations than the previous engine. Transmission choices include six-speed manual or a six-speed E-gear, with E-gear revised to change gears by a rotational selector instead of a fore/aft movement, which offers 40% quicker shifts. E-gear also added Corsa setting and Thrust Mode launch control system. The car was also 20 kg (44 lb) lighter than 2008 base Gallardo. Other changes include a new front bumper influenced by the Murcielago and exterior lights influenced by the Lamborghini Reventon. Gallardo LP 560-4 has base price of US$201,000, but can go over $222,000 with e-gear, carbon ceramic brakes, navigation and other options. Other factory options are available with Ad Personam program. The British version has MSRP of ?147,330.00 ($235,730 USD), including NavTrak vehicle tracking system and delivery package. The vehicle was unveiled at 2008 Geneva Auto Show. In an episode of Top Gear, the LP 560-4 managed a lap of 1:19.5, faster than the Ferrari F430 Scuderia, the Nissan GT-R, and its counterpart, the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. The first production LP560-4 was built with help of an Automobile Magazine journalist. The first US car was sold in 16th Annual Race to Erase MS charity auction for $270,000 to former True Religion Jeans co-founder/co-creator Kymberly Gold and music producer Victor Newman. factory wheels direct 108 Individual compartments for each car. Southwest Road Trip 102 Rockland Ranch. I stumbled on it on my way to the Needles Overlook in Canyonlands. The Ranch is a fundamentalist Mormon cliff dwelling community. Bob Foster, the founder recently passed away. This is his obituary from the Salt Lake City Tribune. "By Brooke Adams - The Salt Lake Tribune Article Last Updated: 09/17/2008 10:11:49 PM MDT A preacher at heart, Robert Dean Foster welcomed friends and strangers alike to the haven he carved in a sandstone slab outside Moab. Whether expected or happenstance, the visits let Foster share his blunt and colorful perspectives on religion, fundamentalism, polygamy, world turmoil and his 30-year labor at Rockland Ranch. Foster died Wednesday in Salt Lake City of cancer. He was 83. When he was 18, Foster joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Day Saints. He served as a bishop, stake mission president and spent 13 years as an LDS seminary teacher. But when he was 46, Foster converted to fundamentalism and eventually created a family that included three plural wives (his first wife divorced him). He never joined any fundamentalist group. The LDS church excommunicated Foster in 1972. A bigamy conviction in 1974 and apocalyptic fears sent Foster in search of a safe space for his family. He found it near Moab, where he blasted home-sized holes into a massive rock on leased public land. Foster considered the ranch "another Ark" that would keep his family and friends safe from the world chaos he believed was imminent. Anne Wilde, a longtime friend, said she was skeptical when he showed her an artist's drawing of his plans for Rockland. "He was one of the few men I have ever met who had a grandiose plan for something and it actually came true," she said. Wilde said Foster was an excellent teacher who was "instrumental in converting young people to fundamentalist Mormonism." Foster is survived by his three wives, Carla, Susan and Karen; 38 children; and 85 grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Sandy. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Foster, who served in the U.S. Air Force in World War II, will be buried at the Utah State Veterans Cemetery & Memorial Park at Camp Williams in Bluffdale." And this is another article from the Tribune about Bob Foster and Rockland Ranch. "By Brooke Adams, Salt Lake Tribune Article Last Updated: 12/26/2007 12:03:10 PM MST The way things were going, Bob Foster figured the end was near and there was no safer place to be than inside a rock in southern Utah. That was 1979. Nearly 30 years later, Foster still lives in a mammoth sandstone slab south of Moab, an astonishing creation he calls Rockland Ranch. Through the years, Foster has carved eight homes and a "charity house" into the rock, creating comfortable and even luxurious dwellings. When he started it all, Foster was a younger, stronger man - one driven by apocalyptic fears and his fundamentalist Mormon faith to find a safe haven to rear his polygamous family. He found it on 82 acres in the sagebrush desert, an edge-of-the-world spot off a twisting, red dirt road and dominated by a massive sandstone formation. "It was crystal clear this is the place," Foster said. "I knew I was to cut holes in rocks for a refuge center." Foster signed a 50-year lease for the property, located on state school trust land, and began blasting home-sized holes in the sandstone. There are 22 years left on the lease, which runs about $6,400 per year, but Foster doesn't expect the government to last that long. So his work continues. Foster's most recent project: the ''Charity House,'' a 10,800-square-foot space that willinclude 12 apartments, a library, chapel, baptismal font, kitchen, dining area, pantry and laundry. "I didn't expect I'd be here but here I am," said Foster, 82, who has three wives (his first wife divorced him) and 38 children. "I told the Lord I'd be out here until I was 75, but he had other plans." 'The Lord made me so strong' Foster is a lanky man with bright blue eyes and skin mottled by rock blasts and desert sun. He once worked as a seminary teacher for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The LDS Church, which publicly disavowed polygamy in 1890, excommunicated Foster in 1972 after he became a fundamentalist and took three wives. Two had taken seminary classes from him years before they married. He was convicted of bigamy in 1974 and spent 20 days in jail doing "hard labor" - washing the sheriff's car. "I figured it was a new mission," said Foster, who to this day remains a compelling preacher. The experience, though, helped give urgency to his pursuit of a safe haven for his family and friends. Foster worked in a uranium mine for nearly five months to learn how to "shoot" rock. He was 50 when he put that knowledge to work and began blas Water Wheel A view of Clodock Mill water wheel which is currently undergoing restoration. This view is where the replacement axle will be. (11) Opel HydroGen4 Fuel Cell I think this one's pretty straightforward. Anyway, the rest of Vauxhall's offerings included an eco Corsa and the new Meriva, as well as the new Ampera, a badge-engineered GM Volt with cheetah eyes. For those of you that don't know, the Volt/Ampera is a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (E-REV), meaning that the engine is only there to charge the battery. So it's like a Prius but the other way round - whereas the Prius is engine-powered with a battery to help it, the E-REV is a battery car with an engine to charge it (the engine never directly powers the wheels) - so GM can simultaneously claim a much longer range than the Nissan Leaf and much better fuel economy than a Toyota Prius. Think of it as weening the car off engine power, like when people quit smoking. It's less dependent on it, and GM probably hopes it will have kicked the habit come replacement time. 93 Ford Explorer XLT - V6, 4.0 Automatic 4WD One-owner '93 Ford Explorer XLT with 183,000 miles on original V6 4.0 liter engine, automatic transmission. 4WD, air conditioning front and rear, power steering/windows/door locks, dual power seats, cruise control, Sony Xplod AM/FM stereo cassette with single CD player and remote, privacy glass, 60/40 split bench, alloy wheels, 4-wheel ABS. Meals On Wheels Mission Statement : E39 Rear Wheel Bearing Replacement : Vancouver Meals On Wheels Meals On Wheels Mission Statement
The Mission Primer: Four Steps to an Effective Mission Statement The Mission Primer: Four Steps to an Effective Mission Statement includes a "Facilitator Training Packet" CD, and is a concise guidebook that teaches you how to develop, evaluate, and manage an effective mission statement for your organization. It is intended for any group of people who are organized for any purpose. No matter what type or size of organization you belong to "The Mission Primer" will show you how to develop an effective mission statement for your organization. It works for industrial concerns, non-profits, schools, hospitals, churches, charities, or government agencies, from small three-person sections, to large departments, to giant-multinationals. The book outlines a simple four-step method for developing effective mission statements. Our unique method is structured, quantifiable, and has a distinct beginning and end. We have used it successfully with dozens of corporate, university, and non-profit clients. The method is based on a set of six laws --- what we call Gast's laws --- that describe the culture of a successful organization. The central idea is that a mission statement describes how the organization intends to comply with Gast's laws. Although we are sometimes met with initial skepticism from our clients, it never lasts long. Apparently, Gast's laws are based on fundamental and enduring properties of human beings, and thus they resonate strongly with the people who are exposed to them. Gast's laws provide a direction and clarity that make the process of writing a mission statement focused, time-limited, and rewarding. If you are leading or participating in an effort to develop or evaluate a mission statement for your organization, then you can benefit from the ideas in this book. Included with this book is a Facilitator Training Packet CD dated September 2002. (5) Today's Fortune Cookie: My New Personal Mission Statement I went to a local Chinese restaurant the other day and had a relatively typical lunch... Opened the fortune cookie and was pleasantly surprised by this statement: "You are faithful in the execution of any public trust." Nice. I think this will be one of the lofty goals I will add to my personal mission statement.
