2011-07-02 - 076 - Red, White, & Dead Zombie Walk I was enjoying a nice warm day walking in a park when screams and frantic bell ringing echoed in the distance behind me. I didn’t bother to look back and quickly ducked behind a tree, rightly assuming that a pack was closely hunting down a Meals On Wheels. But I was stupid. Although zombies rarely attack those with cameras, there was always the possibility that my camera was not bulky enough, the pancake lens not long enough, and the slightly overweight photographer not skinny enough. These fresh and very hungry zombies were lunging far too quickly for me to escape, but they were also too distracted by the self-powered rotisserie pedaling in front of them. The hoarse screaming and bicycle bell ringing, punctuated by the mercilessly pelting of sole-less undead shoes upon the searing hot tarmac climbed to a crescendo of horror, until all of it passed by and slowly faded down the bike path. For a brief moment I was awash with an indescribable premonition of dread, drawing shallow breaths to somehow prevent tempting Schrodinger’s Ceiling Cat from reversing the outcome with a mercurial polydactyly thumb down. I finally came to grips that my tender bits were safe. But for how much longer?
