100 Bikes Project
Dunedin artist Scott Eady has restored a collection of 52 children’s discarded bicycles, including bikes, trikes and scooters, that children can ride in the gallery.
Each bike is a beautifully customised and restored object, transformed from a motley collection of pedal-driven vehicles sourced from dumps and second hand stores in Dunedin. Over the last 6 months the bicycles have undergone a significant transformation; first dismantled, then sandblasted, parts replaced, chromed and assembled once more. Children can select a bike to ride through the gallery, activating and completing the artwork through their participation.
Soft bike
Kids can use old socks and leftover bike parts to make a new creation at the interactive Madison Children's Museum. The floor is a re-used old gym floor from a decommissioned high school in South Milwaukee.

Mein neues Fahrrad!
I found this bike for sale in the Burkliplatz flea market. In pretty good shape, has fenders, lights and a carrier. At only Fr. 85, it meant that the bike, the lock and the insurance sticker cost less by the price of lunch than I was prepared to pay for just a bike. It's a bit small framewise -- probably originally for a teenager. From the drop frame and purple front fork, I'm guessing a female teenager, but for what I need around here, it's perfect!
Danish Postal Carrier Bike
As seen on Seattle Tweed Bicycle Ride. 2/21/10.
The most authentic vintage bike I saw. All original including integrated cases. Front leather mail bag has Royal Danish insignia stamped on top. Even the bell has the insignia.
Owner purchased it for $50 at a Ballard (Seattle neighborhood) yard sale a few years back. I'm guessing it's 1930-1940s vintage.

UNIV for Ellsworth MTB collaboration
The concept for the UNIV for Ellsworth Mountain Bike was to create a detail-oriented, full-suspension street shredder with maximum flare, in contrast to the trend of simplistic throwback re-issues that are now commonplace in street culture. UNIV brings a coastal influence and laid-back outlook to the project, making it a high tech mountain bike for the street. UNIV and Ellsworth worked together for months on the building of the bike and all specifications are to suit the limited collaboration project. The bike had been in discussion for a long time as Ellsworth is located up here in our neck of the woods of North County San Diego. Only a few of these bikes will be made and will retail for more than $5000.
The frame and components are 100% made in USA at the Ellsworth facility in Vancouver, Washington. Featuring 6? of rear travel and Ellsworth’s proprietary Instant Center Tracking suspension, the Moment is the one bike that can go anywhere and do anything.
Ellsworth meticulously hand builds heavy-duty bikes from XC rockets to full-on downhill monsters in limited quantities for riders that demand the best money can buy. Using only the finest materials and manufacturing standards, Ellsworth is at the pinnacle of technology.

FOLD UP EXERCISE BIKE. EXERCISE BIKE
Fold Up Exercise Bike. Dirt Bikes Pics.
Fold Up Exercise Bike
- An exercise bicycle or bike, or stationary bicycle, or Exercycle is a device with saddle, pedals, and some form of handlebars arranged as on a bicycle, but used as exercise equipment rather than transportation.
- A piece of exercise equipment having handlebars, pedals, and a saddle like a bicycle, on which the user replicates the movements of bicycling
- an exercise device resembling a stationary bike
- fold: bend or lay so that one part covers the other; "fold up the newspaper"; "turn up your collar"
- fold: become folded or folded up; "The bed folds in a jiffy"
Timeline 1
Draw a line and do something meaningful around it. This is all you have to do.
Visual thinking doesn't have to be complex to be valuable. You can start with a line, and use it as a lens into something richer. Take this simple exercise:
Draw a line that connects any two points on a page. The line can be as straight or as wavy as you like. It's your line, do what you want with it.
Label one point "Start" and one point "The End."
You have now created the timeline of your life. Wherever you think is appropriate, put a hash on the line and label it "today."
The rest of the exercise is two-fold. First, go backward on the line and mark down the important things that came before today. It could be milestones, like your first job or when you learned to ride a bike. It could be decisions, like when you decided not to eat meat, or that you didn't really care about calculus. Mark down what was important.
The second part of the exercise is also simple: Fill in the rest of the line. What do you hope to encounter before "the end?" What will be important after today?
Draw a line and doing something meaningful around it. If it sounds like a cheap exercise, it's not. It's an honest but quick way of taking stock at a very high altitude. I found it in a great book called The Pathfinder about 10 years ago, and do it regularly to keep pulse with where I'm headed.
For the experimental, there are other variations on a timeline worth exploring. Here are some other structures:
Branching futures: Because there's no sense in pretending there is only one possibility.
Branching pasts: A family-tree of activities and influences that add up to this moment.
Lifecycle: Because there is something in the past- a right or a wrong- that you may be seeking.
306.365.2010
Will be looking to start cycling more soon after not doing so for months. I'm hoping to enter the Smithfield Nocturne Folding Bike Race next summer, so I'll probably start doing some time trials round the Smithfield route during my annual leave either this month or next month to get a gist of how slow I am.
The exercise will probably do my SAD some good, though the problem with anything like cycling is down to two things; having the time between work/what little time I have to relax at home and having the energy, because shift work leaves me constantly drained.
Anyhow, I managed to snap up a bargain on new shiny lights + wireless micro bicycle computer kit for ?49 with CycleSurgery's Timeout Tuesday deal last week. Saved myself ?40, which was neat. I'm picking up a Brooks saddle this week as well, though I'm wondering whether or not to ditch the rear rack, as the weight of the bicycle is too much for me at the moment and I've already got the front luggage block. Probably worth investing in a matching Brooks saddle bag if I really need the rear luggage option for anything, though I doubt it.

I'm in the early stages of building up a road bike for commuter duty. It's a Fuji Club Sport frame, which seems to be remarkably light and strong. Instead just enough air to get over the pointy rock, clear the log, and carry speed through the tranny (center of frame) into the next turn. 256/365 'the fixed gear'
tonight just a few snaps of my bike, just thought i would show you an update of what my bike looks like.
this is an 84(ish) Raleigh sprint, i got it for ?10 at a car boot sale and brought lots of parts to make it a fixed gear, its still not exactly how i want it but its ride-able and safe.
so for the time being it will be cool!
i stuck an 'Oldschool' adidas vinyl on the toptube but im not sure of it if in honest!

1986 schwinn predator freeform z. picked it up on ebay for almost nothing, since all the people on ebay that are looking for this era freestyle bike are all searching for a redline or a hutch or a gt or a haro.
except for the tires, this bike is all original, the way it rolled off the showroom floor 22 years ago.

THE ITALIAN ROAD BIKE MIRROR - LADY ON A BIKE.
The Italian Road Bike Mirror

- (Road biking) Road cycling is the most widespread form of cycling. It takes place primarily on paved surfaces. It includes recreational, racing, and utility cycling.
- A bike with narrow tires best suited for paved roads. Usually noted by drop style bars.
- A bicycle that is suitable for use on ordinary roads, as opposed to a mountain bike
- A road bicycle is similar to a racing bicycle. However, road bikes are built more for endurance and less for fast bursts of speed, which is desired in a racing bicycle. They usually have more gear combinations and fewer hi-tech racing features.

Kendal
Finally into familiar territory, and restaurants which are open too. Today was much hillier than i expected and after last night's somewhat botched pizza dinner i felt short on fuel later in the day. So, i looked out an italian restaurant tonight and have just eaten all of the pasta, ahead of tomorrow's ascent of shap hill.
Gearwise, how are things working out? Aerobars, mirror and mudguards were all late additions to the bike and have all been brilliant. After i downgeared the bike, i still took the original sprocket with me - waste of time, never been close to using it. Kindle has been mostly a waste. I thought i'd have lots of free time to read, but in practise my evenings are pretty full with eating, clothes washing, showering, route checking and sorting out bnb's. It was worth bringing the ipod; i was great to listen to it on my half day in Ross on Wye and i've used it a couple of days on boring quiet roads. I would've used it today too, except i had forgot to charge it. Riding clothes have all been fine. My sealskinz rain gloves are really too warm for this weather though. Only taking one set of clothes has been fine. I was my riding gear in the sink when i arrive, dry it by rolling it in a towel and it's always been totally dry by morning. Waterproof map case was something that i figured i might need after the one and only training ride where i took a map - very glad to have it. The bungee cord i took has served several purposes, and now holds the map on my pannier pack. My Ortleib panniers have been bulletproof, but i've had them for years and knew they would be. I've talked lots about the gps before and how useful it is. Finally, i would not be without my high viz jacket. It's a bit of a pain, being an extra layer, but i'm convinced it has made a huge difference to drivers being able to see me. I had a good example today whilst i was descending a wet hill at reasonable speed. Driver appeared from junction at left, slowed and looked both ways. He took his foot off the brake for a fraction of a second and then slammed it back on again as his brain registered the approaching cyclist. To be fair, he might have spotted me regardless, but it was setting up to be a textbook 'look but don't see' situation.
The bike itself has been fine. I'll need new brake blocks after all these descents! The only niggle is that the seat post keeps gradually slipping. No problems with the gears, and with all the rain and mud i've been through i'm quite glad for the sealed hub gears! I'm now very glad the other bike i was going to buy fell through.

Today's FGR 365 is "Flying Feet.".
Look at my poor Italian princess, still so scarred from my accident.
If she were running all of me would be flying, down the road at 100+ mph. Heh heh...
I shot this on my way out this morning and posted it from work so tonight I can continue playing LEGO Batman on Xbox360. It ROCKS OUT LOUD!

My first bicycle in 18 years! Now I can ride to pilates (sooooo California, eh?). Except for the fact that when taking this picture i realized the back tire is flat in a way that will not air up. Drat!

Tire fail. This Specialized Armadillo tire didn't wear out gracefully. It shed long strips of rubber that ended up in my sproket on the commute to work.

the bike is basically done. i don't have any cable housings so i can't really do the shift cable routing. i can't route the brake cables without disconnecting them (and they're hydraulic to boot), plus they need to be shortened. i think at this point i need to make a trip to ye olde LBS. sigh. guess i won't be able to ride it this weekend. if i'm lucky there will be a place open tomorrow, but the queues at all of the places i've been visiting have been 2-3 days deep. sniffle.
