2 stroke mini bikes

    mini bikes
  • A minibike, sometimes called a mini moto or pocketbike, is a miniature motorcycle. Most traditional minibikes use a two stroke engine to turn the rear wheel via a chain.

  • (mini-bike) [British] a small-wheel bicycle; [American] a small moped; [Japanese] a moped.

  • Very small bikes designed to be simple and fun for children. Generally they have no clutch or shifting to simplify operation. Also known as Mini Motos. Not street-legal in most countries and jurisdictions. May be used for racing by all age levels.

    2 stroke
  • A two-stroke engine is an internal combustion engine that completes the thermodynamic cycle in two movements of the piston (compared to twice that number for a four-stroke engine).

Coast Bike Ride to Printer's Picnic 9.2010

Coast Bike Ride to Printer's Picnic 9.2010

The annual Oregon AAPA Printer's Picnic was in Eugene so I proposed to Matthew that we take a long bike ride down the coast to get there from Portland.

Our bike trip was Wed-Sat. Day 1: Tillamook Bus from Portland, plus the connecting bus 1 hour south to Neskowin just north of Lincoln City. We biked 35 miles to Beverly Beach 3 mi N of Newport. Since we started biking about 2:45pm arriving 6:30/7pm we missed a glorious sunset (reserved for RV campers) as we were stuck up in an isolated hiker biker camp (pen!) with bear notices. No one else camped that night but we did have an excellent dinner (thanks Matthew). Matthew hung all our food in a tree just in case. And we made endless jokes about being bikers in the zoo.

Next morning it was raining and we were kicking ourselves for setting up our tent in the wide open. A little coast squirrel threw nuts on us as we made breakfast. We set out in the rain, and rode 3 miles with rain pelting our faces. My Gore-Tex booties also failed. Soggy in Newport we decided to get a motel and stay the night -- it stopped raining then, but we enjoyed a full day in Newport -- county museum with toothpick bridge, thrift shops, and Nye Beach -- awesome exhibit made from plastic washed up on the beach. Plus we made a new kitty friend. We enjoyed a beer in an old pub on Bay street, and while I didn’t go (I’d been before) I paid a visit to my beloved Ripley’s Museum chain. Our motel however was... bad... it was cheap, but we never stopped finding something to b*tch about -- the long-term neighbors 2am “you love the bottle more than me”, the smell. the smell, did I mention the smell.. and other icky details. The good news is we really got to explore Newport. By the way the bike shop in Newport, has showers, and a bikers lounge for travelers if you are passing through and need a break.

The third day we left first thing the morning and headed to the very awesome Salvation Army (meeting some lovely Canadian travelers going from Alaska to Central America! Matthew found a $60-80 fishing reel for $10) before catching the Lincoln county bus south.. to catch up on our miles. We got off in Yachats. Great town - we made sandwiches in a park down by the ocean, and hundreds of dragonflies flew overhead. The Log Church Museum was a treat, plus we met another Portland bike tourist while getting coffee.. and the Lions Thrift shop – sweet I got two printer’s rollers for $2!

Finally.. again about 2pm we started to bike south. Wonderful sunny day and great coastal views through Cape Perpetua. We planned to bike at least to Florence, but when we stopped at the Carl Washburne Campground/Beach access, we took a long beach walk, and decided to camp and do more miles the next day. For over an hour we had the beach to ourselves except for a sea lion who was dying. He/she popped her head up when we went by.. but on our return didn't even lift her/his head. We also saw a dead pup and another sea lion in pieces. With the Sea Lions cave nearby.. this beach must be where they go to die. The hiker/biker campground was great.. a group of 5 Canadian 18-20 somethings were there as well who we invited to our fire... they enthusiastically said they'd love to join us.. but we ended up having the fire to ourselves as they never did join us (kids! I managed to bitch about being snubbed for at least 24 hours).

On the fourth day we got up early to get going on miles. Right before Sea Lion caves there were 30-50 Sea Lions in the waves, surfing up and down the biggish waves together! I made a poor decision of looking while riding up a hill with bad side surface road, and my bike and I fell over into the road. Bruised I carried on, glad that no car passed as I fell right into the lane. Lovely day again, but cooler and foggy. In Florence we dilly dallied. We went to yard sales in the retirement community area off the 101, also thanks Linda's Thrift for being awesome ... again! Than some sass and grease at the Dunes Cafe. Finally at 2pm.. we got to biking again. We were heading to Eugene via the 126. 50-60 miles depending on the sign. But 15 miles before Eugene there is a bus we could catch in Veneta. The route was a little hillier than expected, but overall really nice -- except the long tunnel going uphill -- Matthew and I both sweated profusely through the entire thing and hugged each other afterwards. We then realized that I was looking at the weekday bus schedule, and we missed the last bus in Veneta. Luckily Matthew's friend Cameron in Eugene picked us up with a pickup truck. Immediately we took showers at Cameron's bike shop before meeting up with my printer friend Kirstin and her posse at Pizza Research Institute, which was followed by sweets. Cameron pedaled Matthew and me around in one of his pedicabs! we loved it! We had a cross Eugene dark ride through Amazon park off street paths to get to Kristen’s where we stayed the night.

On Sunday Matthew and I attended the Printer's Picnic at Dean and Lou Rea's house. It

Day 21 - Leaving Las Vegas

Day 21 - Leaving Las Vegas

TODAY'S ROUTE:
Leave in the middle of the night and head for the mountains and some relief from the heat. I hope to be in N. California by this evening.

THE DETAILS:
I said goodbye to my kids (they got up at 3am to see me off). Even this hour of the morning it's still 93 degrees. At least the sun is not beating down unmercifully.
The route out of Vegas takes me past the strip. Breifly I consider stopping for some pictures, but decide now that I'm finally underway again to just keep moving. Already I'm about a day later than I wanted to leave. About 20 miles outside of Vegas and the temp is already much cooler - mid 70's. I'm in the middle of the desert and not a soul on the road. I'm a little sleepy so I stop several times. It's kinda cool just stopping along side the road in the middle of the desert and shutting off the bike. The stars in the clear desert sky are fantanstic! Funny how I don't notice them while I'm moving. Maybe it's the headlight?
I stopped at a gas station/store about 50 miles from Beatty, NV. After I top off the tank and sit and have a coffee, a guy on a Goldwing pulling a matching trailer pulls up. He tops off and rides over to chat.
It turns out we're heading the same direction and we'll ride together for awhile.
His name is Wahoo (true name he says - adopted by an Indian family as an infant.
He's from Georgia and was also visiting his daughter in Vegas and left early in the morning to beat the heat. He's been retired from IBM for 17 years and is on his 5th Goldwing - this one has 140k on the clock.
He know's the area very well as he has twin daughters with one in Vegas and one in California. We travelled through the north end of Death Valley with a few side stops at mining ghost towns.
We continued to ride the better part of the day. At Yosemite, he was going through, so we parted ways as I went out the way I came in. Yosemite was nice and cool although the ranger says the snow is melting rapidly due to the higher than normal temps. Yet another very beautiful place. I continued on to Lake Tahoe. While I was there enjoying the view of the Lake, the KLR did it's job as a conversation piece and attracked a local building inspector. He told me of the cheapest motel in town and that the campgrounds were only about $10 less. I checked in a nice room for less than $40. I had been up for 24 hours when my head hit the pillow around 7pm.

THE DAILY TAKE:
Miles Today: 517
Total Miles: 5018
States Visited Today: 2
Total States Visited: 13
Weather: Comfortable in the mountains. Once I left Death Valley, never below 7000 ft.

SEEN ON THE ROAD:
Lizards and Jack Rabbits - sometimes 5 or 6 in a group.
1 buck deer with antlers in velvet...running away from the road.

RANDOM THOUGHTS:
Although I didn't make as good of progress as I'd have liked, I had a wonderful ride through the mountains along the California/Nevada border. In the high elevations, it was comfortable and very scenic. Wahoo was a good companion and he stopped often and rode very conservative through the mountain roads. Just what the doctor ordered my first day back on the road after my deer adventure.

200 YEARS AGO TODAY:
On the prevoius evening, the Indians entertain Lewis' party by setting fir trees on fire. The dry limbs creates a sudden and immense blaze from bottom to top and sudden bursts when limbs explode. A beautiful display at night. Lewis comments on how they remind him of fireworks displays. The natives say the object of setting the trees ablaze is to bring fair weather for the journey.
The group set out early in the morning. The indian guides complain of being unwell. Lewis has experienced this before as a prelude to the guides abandoning any enterprise. The guides catch up to the group by lunch time and continue with the party the remainder of the day to Hungry Creek.
Lewis is releived that the guides seem to be faithful to their engagement.

Nice Rack!

Nice Rack!

I spent the evening building a bike rack for the back of the truck. Weighs a tonne, but fits snugly and won't move around. Built from scavenged wood picked up from the mill down the street, various chunks of previously used and somewhat weathered plywood from the pile in the shop, and some cheap handles I bought at Home Depot ($25 for 10, bringing the total cost for the rack to $25 :-)

CVS Camcorder Bike Mount

CVS Camcorder Bike Mount

A quick and cheap bike mount for a CVS "one time use" camcorder. I took the front reflector off the bike, drilled a hole into the battery bay cover of the camera, then used a nut and bolt to mount the camera in place of the reflector.

I did my first set of videos without the zip ties, but its jumped around horribly, so I went back and grabbed a few large zip-ties to pull it back towards the bike frame. It doesn't effect my ability to move the camera around but when I had this set up I pulled it back too much and ended up shooting a lot of trees.

20071207085047-bryan

20071207085047-bryan

One of the books I brought to read during the long nights was Le Chant des Roues by Claude Marthaler about his 7 year bike ride around the world. Last night he was riding through the US and commented that the national parks in the US are the worst places to ride because there is so much traffic. He talked about how these incredible areas get loved to death. Here I was on a paved road in a popular national park at the time of year with the best weather, and there wasn't another soul around.

This photo appeared in the following ideotrope albums:

Biking the Mojave Fall 2007 - Introduction
I biked through Death Valley in October 1996. It was 109°F at Furnace Creek. The area is beautiful, but it was way too hot at that time of year. I knew I wanted to come back on my bicycle when it was cooler. This year it worked out to take about 3 weeks after Thanksgiving. I ended up spending 18 days to cycle from Palm Springs to Las Vegas. I spent about half of that time in Death Valley NP. In Baker I met a group of cyclists on racing bikes with a support vehicle. They were cycling from Palm Springs to Las Vegas in 2 days. I saw a lot more desert than they did.
Coachella Valley and Joshua Tree National Park
I crossed the Coachella Valley on Ramon Rd. It was over 70°F, probably the warmest day of the trip. It wasn't 'til I turned onto Thousand Palms Rd. that I felt like I was heading out into the desert on my own. The San Andreas Fault system runs along the northern end of the Coachella Valley. The faults allow groundwater to rise to the surface resulting in a number of California fan palm oases. It's wonderful to see oases in the desert.
It was a 1300m climb on Berdoo Canyon Rd. to the Coachella Valley-Pleasant Valley saddle in Joshua Tree NP. I didn't see a single person or vehicle in Berdoo Canyon. Climbing out of Pleasant Valley I saw the first person, a fellow adventurer. Patrick was walking solo across Joshua Tree NP from west to east. That's a heck of a trek. That park is huge and has only one known spring. Patrick had set up two water caches before his trip.
Amboy Road and Mojave National Preserve
I bought enough food in 29 Palms to last 4 days to Baker. Heading east on the Amboy Rd. I met the only other touring cyclist of the trip. He had come down from Bishop through Death Valley NP, Baker, Kelso, Amboy - much the same route I was planning to take. When I met him, he had run out of food. I shared some almonds with him but didn't have much sympathy with his plight. The reason he didn't buy food in Baker was because there wasn't a health food store! Well, I told him there was a grocery store in 29 Palms, but it might not be up to his standard.
One of the things I was looking forward to on this trip was experiencing the transition zone between the Sonoran Desert (lower, farther south) and the Mojave Desert (higher, farther north). Creosote bushes grow in both, but most other flora is limited to one ecosystem or the other. In the transition zones you can see a mix of vegetation. What I saw ended up being less dramatic than Washington County, Utah where the Colorado Plateau, the Basin and Range country, and the Mojave Desert all come together. Joshua Trees were the main ecosystem indicator for me. I knew I was climbing high when I started to see them.
I was surprised how much traffic there was on the Amboy Rd. It wasn't much, but a lot of the paved roads that I was on during the trip would have one car every 10-30 minutes and perhaps none all night. The only truly busy roads were the road north out of Baker (on a Saturday morning) and the Pahrump-Las Vegas superhighway which has a wonderful bicycle lane.
I climbed Sheep Hole Pass to get into the Amboy Valley. It was in the Amboy Valley where I became accustomed two aspects important to cyclists in the Mojave:
Distances are deceiving. You can see really far. It takes much longer to cross these valleys that it appears that it would.
The slight inclines up alluvial fans or other fill climb a lot more than they appear to. In Colorado I'm not accustomed to seeing the whole climb since there are usually canyon climbs here. Leaving Amboy, for example, I climbed over 3000 ft. on a slowly rising alluvial plane. It took hours.
I enjoyed time off the bike to walk out to and up Amboy Crater. The following day I climbed to the top of the Kelso Dunes. And one day later I climbed one of the cinder cones east of Baker. I enjoyed having a diversion each day. Each of those areas is beautiful in its own way. The creosote bushes in the Amboy Valley are particularly green because of the shallow water table. Kelso Dunes are simply fantastic, and the cinder cone area with over 30 cinder cones and not another person felt like another planet.
In Baker I bought enough food to last 10 days and ate at the Mad Greek at my brother's recommendation. I had taken a rest day the previous day becaus

RAIN-A-THLON

RAIN-A-THLON

When your an athlete, competition is a good thing. In Perryville/Port Deposit last Saturday, the Diamond In The Rough Triathlon and its 377 who finished got more than they bargained for as they had the rain to deal with as well as puddles, hills and wet curves. The race was supposed to feature a mile swim for the first event at 8am, but with the weather and sound of thunder, a 2.7 mile run in Perryville Park kicked things off. Following the run came a 27 mile bike ride from Perryville Park up to Dr. Jack Road, (pictured here near Liberty Grove Road intersection), through Port Deposit and back. Then another run of five miles through Perry Point ended the morning race.
The winner, 22 year old James Burns from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, finished (1:47:58) before the second place finisher came through almost five minutes later. Cecil County had five entries and Dave Judd of Elkton crossed the line for 24th place at 2:07:18 while Conowingo resident and Boston Marathon runner, Elizabeth (Betsie) Roark came in 59th with a time of 2:15:24. Brandon Freel of Elkton (2:29:01) came in 162nd place and Perryville's Mike O'Brien was 208th with a time of (2:35:38) while Rising Sun's own Mark McHenry (2:38:57) was 228th.
Betsie admits that the swim isn't her best event, but she didn't want to substitute because of the rain.
"It was disappointing," said Betsie about the swim event being cancelled. "That's why your out there, to do the swim, bike, run."
While it rained during the race, at least the usually hot and humid temperatures of this summer got a slow start.
"Even though we had to be cautious on the bike, I thought the rain was more favorable than the heat," Betsie added.
This fall she'll be competing in the Tri-Sports.com Halfmax Championships in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on October 2nd which
attracts the best long course athletes in the nation.
"It was very challenging with all the rain," said Dave Judd. "I did the race last year and it is tricky in good conditions. There are some very sharp turns on some steep downhills."
With the added challenges facing the athletes along the back roads, speed is a factor in staying ahead and staying safe.
"I hit 44 mph in one section," Dave said. "The rain made it very hard to descend and I got scared more than once. The one downhill just at the end of Dr. Jack Road before reaching the flat sections near the Susquehanna (Moore Road) was especially tricky."
It's tough to train for wet conditions, but Dave keeps healthy and in shape by swimming 1500-2000 yards at the Elkton YMCA and then trail running 45 minutes to an hour in Fair Hill. On other days he rides his bike 25-50 miles through rural areas of Cecil County.
He also keeps his diet simple. "I just eat smart. No junk food, a lot of vegetables, fish, rice and potatoes. I did carb up the other day before the race with a good pasta dinner."
As he keeps healthy, he's planning out another local race on August 15th for the North East Triathlon beginning and ending at North East Community Park at 7:30 am.
After all the training to get ready for last weekend's triathlon, Betsie enjoyed some good old fashioned home cooking.
"One thing that I did after the race that I would not do before a big race is eat a hamburger, baked fries AND ice cream."

The Belgian Hammer: Forging Young Americans into Professional Cyclists

This is the story of what it takes for young Americans to make it in professional cycling. Only thirty-six Americans have competed in the Tour de France since the world’s greatest bicycle race began in 1903. That’s not too many more than the twelve Americans who have walked on the moon. It’s far fewer than the hundreds of Americans who have reached the summit of Mount Everest.
But rising stars such as Lawson Craddock of Texas, Benjamin King of
Virginia, Taylor Phinney of Colorado, Daniel Holloway of California, and Tyler Farrar of Washington state are doing just that as they endure crashes, cold rain, cobblestones, crosswinds, and culture shock on their road to cycling
stardom, which starts in Belgium.

This is the story of the next generation—of riders not yet tainted by drug scandals, of riders still bursting with hope and potential. This is the story American cycling fans need right now.

-------------------

“People, get ready for great stories written well. The Belgian Hammer captures cycling culture.”
—Benjamin King, 2010 U.S. Pro Road Racing Champion

“The Belgian Hammer is the unique story of professional cycling that hasn’t yet been told until now. Daniel Lee has revealed the road map for the next generation of Americans hoping to become successful in Europe, where cycling is king.”
—Jim Ochowicz, President/General Manager of the BMC Racing Team.

“All of us who left our tire prints on the European circuits remember how
racing there shaped us forever. With passion, Daniel Lee gives substance and perspective to the experience of young Americans trying to make it in
Europe; and bicycle racing is illuminated by his craft.”
—John Howard, three-time Olympic cyclist, who set a bicycle speed record of 152.2 mph in 1985

“For those who admire images of cyclists flashing with arms spread wide in triumph over the finish line on blue-sky days, Daniel Lee gives us an insightful, forceful, and gritty account of the rigorous?and frequently perilous?route that cyclists take to force their way up the ranks and develop skills to win. A former racer himself, Dan Lee puts his passion for the sport into his newspaper reporter experience and writing talent. In The Belgian Hammer he follows Taylor Phinney, Benjamin King, Daniel Holloway, and other legends in the making on the USA Cycling national team living in Belgium, where the young bloods from around the world go to test themselves against the best of their generation. They compete in tight packs exceeding 150 riders pumping over narrow wind-blown roads slick from rain while threading through the countryside at unrelenting speed. To spectators cycling matches the grace of ballet. Daniel Lee reveals its uncompromising demands and brutality and heroics.”
?Peter Joffre Nye, author of The Six-Day Bicycle Races: America’s Jazz Age Sport and a Trustee of the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame

    track bike
  • A track bicycle or track bike is a bicycle optimized for racing at a velodrome or outdoor track. Unlike road bicycles, the track bike is a fixed-gear bicycle and so has a single gear and neither freewheel nor brakes. Tires are narrow and inflated to high pressure to reduce rolling resistance.

  • A bicycle made for track (also called "velodrome") racing. These bikes resemble road-racing models but have only one gear and no brakes. The gear is "fixed," which means you can't coast. You control speed by holding back on the pedals.

  • A very simple bike used for track racing. It has a single-speed gear without freewheeling and there are no brakes.

Roads in Iceland

Roads in Iceland

Roads in Iceland

A large portion of Iceland's road system is made up of gravel roads, even some the main highways, and more so as you get further away from the Reykjavik and larger towns. The main highway around Iceland, Route 1, circles Iceland in 1428 kilometers of which 272km is dirt road. Most of the population lives in or around Reykjavik so the further you get from the capital the less traffic. On gravel roads you may encounter stretches with potholes or “washboards” and occasionally some sand but mostly the roads are a good ride. Off road driving is prohibited because the soil and vegetation is very sensitive to all traffic. Even hikers can cause permanent damage to the land, which may recover only slowly or not at all. The Public Roads Administration has a website with maps on current road conditions including the interior highlands and weather conditions on certain mountain roads etc.
The Interior Highlands

The mountain roads across the interior highlands are closed until late June. They are rough, with lots of steep hills and unbridged rivers. In the interior there are no shops so you must bring enough food. The Touring Club of Iceland (Fer?afelag Islands) is the biggest travel-association in Iceland and it runs shelters or huts in 34 places in the Icelandic interior. They are often full, need to be booked long in advance and accommodation is not guaranteed. Some areas are protected areas where your must camp at designated campsites. Elsewhere you can rough camp almost anywhere except on private land, provided you don’t leave any marks or litter. Ask permission if you think the spot is privately owned.

Most rivers are unbridged and at over 40 fords, notices have been put up with instructions on how to ford rivers. Be sure to assess the current, depth and the nature of the riverbed before fording a river. If a river looks dangerous to cross, it probably is and if you are traveling by yourself you should wait for someone who could keep an eye out and help you or get help if you run into trouble. Glacial rivers swell as the day goes on.

Check the weather forecast before heading into the interior highlands and every day while there. The weather can change very suddenly. You should also ask the wardens in the huts, and others, about conditions ahead. Sometimes rivers flood and bridges and roads are closed. In most areas you will find small rivers with fresh spring water every few hours but in certain areas you may have to load up on water for two days.

  • A motorcycle that meets the legal requirements for use on ordinary roads

  • A road bicycle is similar to a racing bicycle. However, road bikes are built more for endurance and less for fast bursts of speed, which is desired in a racing bicycle. They usually have more gear combinations and fewer hi-tech racing features.

  • A bike with narrow tires best suited for paved roads. Usually noted by drop style bars.

Janin suspension

Janin suspension

1981, owner of a small bike shop has complaints from his customers about sore rear ends and bad backs. So he sets out to design a fully supended racer by means of a swing arm on front fork, and chopping the bottom stays, and adding a front fork to a swing arm made from the cut off part of a standard rear triangle. Wheelbase is 1220 mm uncompressed, frame size 56, tires are 700 x 18 c.

You tend to think of "system bikes" as 1900's. Well, this is the story of one guy who had a dream about a machine, made the protos, and after a trial ride by Geminiani who adised him to put it straight into industrial production, licencesed out to Gitane, and venoto (who went bust). The proto figured in Le Cycle as the ideal solution. Should normally be fitted with racing bars. I'll try it first with the MTB bars, but only once I'm darn sure all those nuts and bolts everywhere are well tightened down. Having a swing arm drop off isn't a good idea.

The whole bike is spanking brand new. Think there might be one more left for sale, size 54, but the later MTB version.

New bike!

Had it for just over a month now and I've already done the Coast 2 Coast bike ride (Whitehaven to Sunderland) on it, and so far done a total of 300 miles on it. Plus gone through one headset on it too. It came with a Cane Creek ZS tapered headset, but I managed to murder that within a few weeks, so it's got a Hope tapered headset on it now. It's a HUGE upgrade from my old Giant hardtail, but it's worth every cent. I love it.

And yes, the colour is my choice (though the green is a lot more vibrant in person), and yes, it is handy if I ever need to be spotted by the air ambulance as I've had comments about. =P

Photo taken at the Tackeroo Campsite on Cannock Chase. Applied a filter to it using the Camera+ iPhone app, hence why it's a little....bright.

Check out this sweet motorbike/bicycle combo. And yes, this guy PEDALLED this thing around all day. It reached a top speed slightly slower than walking pace and turned like the Queen Mary, but gee, it looks great!

    mountain bike
  • a bicycle with a sturdy frame and fat tires; originally designed for riding in mountainous country

  • (Mountain biking) Mountain biking is a sport which consists of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially adapted mountain bikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes, but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain.

  • A bicycle with a light sturdy frame, broad deep-treaded tires, and multiple gears, originally designed for riding on mountainous terrain

  • (Mountain Biking) A designated, rugged, natural surfaced, single track trail that offers a range of riding opportunities.

    tubeless
  • Tubeless tyres are pneumatic tyres that do not require a separate butyl rubber inner tube.

  • pneumatic tire not needing an inner tube to be airtight

  • Similar to a car tire, where the no tube is needed to keep the tire inflated. Relatively new to the mountain bike world, tubeless tires can reduce the number of flats experienced due to hitting a hard object that may pinch and puncture an innertube.

Michelin WildRace'R Advanced Tubeless Mountain Bicycle Tire (26 x 2.1)

MICHELIN WildRace?R Advanced tires are available in three tubeless sizes, and are recommended for racing. The 127 TPI carcass is flexible and lightweight, while MICHELIN Dual Compound technology helps enhance performance: the harder rubber compound below the tread is highly resistant to punctures, while the softer compound on the outside of the tread helps enhance grip. MICHELIN Gumwall technology helps protect the sidewalls and provides an excellent seal for tubeless applications. Michelin WildRace'R tires feature a broad distribution of knobs across the tread to promote efficiency and help ensure excellent resistance to punctures. The position of the shoulder knobs helps provide superb grip when climbing out of ruts or when leaned over. This also helps offer more predictable, progressive cornering.
