For Christmas 2003, my wife gave me a Canon A80 point-and-shoot digital camera. Until then I had been using a Minolta X700 35mm camera and had 24 rolls of film left to be shot on it. I still have them.

I got the film free from Brooks Drugs, which offered either a free set of prints or a free roll of film for each roll you brought in for development. They were 24-exposure rolls instead of the 36-exposure I preferred but the promotion only allowed the 24s. Most were ISO 400 (fast), the rest ISO 200 (medium). I don't know who actually made the film (though the colors are sort of Kodak-y), but the boxes were made with tabs so they could be hung on racks around the store. I tore off the tabs (they made stacking impossible), which is why the boxes all look torn.

more working away from home finds me in Singapore late on a Sunday afternoon after a 17 hour flight...

This is Merlion park, just in front of the Central Business District, with it's famous statue cum fountain of the Merlion. The Merlion is Singapore's official symbol, half-cat, half-fish, it was dreamed up by the Tourist Promotion Board in 1964 and tends to be treated as a bit of joke...

It does make a nice backdrop for a 52 though
