The Raphael Hotel Rome
- (formerly Treasure Island): Hotel Rome is the park's signature hotel. It features Greco-Roman themed decor through the resort including rooms. Hotel Rome is located on-site with the park and connected via skywalk to the indoor waterpark.

Though we didn't have too much sun while in Rome, fortunately there was only one day of rain. What better way to spend it than seeing the Vatican Museums? So we did. Since we had the Interwebs in our hotel (not a certainty in Europe), we could make plans ahead of the rain, and be at the museum entrance 15 minutes before they opened. It helped that it was only a 5-minute walk from our residence in Rome...
The museums are hu-uge. You better wear really comfortable shoes if you plan to see more-or-less everything in one day. But they are totally awesome! It's hard to take it all in at once, especially after a couple of hours in there, but all the art and the rooms are just beautiful. A must-see, really.
This shot was taken near the end of our tour, when we used every chance to sit down somewhere. Julia's holding a guidebook of the museums we brought, so we didn't use the audioguides. This is also one of the lesser crowded rooms. In a few of the passages you just have to go with the flow of people, with no chance of stopping and admiring the work. That kinda sucked. Especially the Raphael Rooms (Stanze di Raffaello) were so hot and humid from all the people in there, that the colors must have nearly come off the walls. And don't get me started on the tour parties with their badges and colored scarfs, always in the way and blocking everything...
