"What a Week(s)"

I fell asleep during Dear Genevieve on HGTV. Eric says the couple were very pleased with their new family room and artists studio. The wife was in tears. Apparently I was busy digesting Cassoulet and dreaming of another day at work....

It has been an interesting week. After three days of absolute chaos, I had off Monday, but after 13 days of work in a row, I accomplished little of the long list of tasks I needed to get done. I figured I could get things done this week by leaving work early, since it was a quiet week. Ummmm, think again!

By the way, one thing we all learned at work is that three days in a row running on pure adrenalin, leaves your body rather messed up. I found myself having trouble falling asleep, and was almost yearning for more of the excitement.

Anyway....my boss spent a lot of time this week at our store which tied me up in conversations and strategizing for the future. We moved all the tables and chairs for 225 people around to different locations. (Thankfully, I am not 340 pounds anymore. That would have killed me!) I got the party sheets for the week after the food order had already been placed and shipped. (Grrrrrrrrrr) On Thursday, my daytime line cook shoved his hand into the meat slicer producing a scene which would have made the producers or horror flicks quite happy, so now I am alone during the day. On Friday I find out one of the parties that night has ordered trays of food, and no one let me know. The manager of the kitchen at the other location quit, so now I am the only one who knows how to make the upscale party food for both locations, and there are big parties at both locations on Monday, so I will have to work that day....my only day off currently. So, in four weeks I will have one day off, which was this past Monday.

The only day I left early was Wednesday, when I went to see Cirque du Soliel, which had me so wound up I couldn't get to sleep till 1:30.

So......I am tired. Starting to get my cranky on. I can feel it coming. I fight the urge, but...

The good side? I am hourly!!!!! Never, NEVER, make a chef hourly! I am feeling regular doses of retail therapy in my future!

I love any event with fair food... tonight's Friday Night Extra concert featuring Lauris Vidal and Have Gun, Will Travel had these awesome sprinkle dipped ice cream bars AND lovely lemonade - and tremendous people watching too. #htymp

I guess that's why I never wrote you a song
I'm just talking to talk because I can't hang up
I get tired of tired of sleeping alone
And these recent days with kids' stupid taste
People just want to complain
I guess it's nice to see that there's someone else like
Someone else like me

And I know the ups and downs are hard
I'm just sitting around
I want to finish these songs
But I don't know where to start
And I, I'm sure things could still be worse
So thanks a lot, but this is all I've got
I'm still happy and at least I learned
That the older you get
The harder it is to make yourself go all out
