Tommy Fleming's funeral in Franklin, TX
Mark Fleming's father's funeral was held in his hometown, Franklin, Texas, on Saturday, June 13, 2009.
The funeral was well-attended: the church service was full to standing room in the back (although somehow I was ushered into a single, completely vacant pew), most wore T-Shirts and jeans, some overalls. I'd never before out-dressed the guest of honor at a funeral: this dilligent farmer wore his best overalls complete with tire gauge in his front pocket and favorite tractor hat resting near his peaceful head.
Done properly in true Southern Baptist style, the message of the service, to mourn one's death but celebrate his life and passing into eternal Heaven, and to live one's own life remembering that there is no knowing when our time will come, was brought home with Southern Gospel, smiley preacher, and Allen Jackson's "I'll Fly Away" playing on the CD.
work in progress
Been working on a few collages this week. This is on a 16x20 inch Clayboard which is the largest I've used. I think I am now in love with the smell of the Clayboards when you first open them.
