Day 279
15th May 2010
Today was a nice sunny day so we went off on a hunt for bluebell woods before the season ends.
In previous years I've tried to find some woods locally and I've not had much success, so this year I looked up on the Woodland Trust website and found a couple of locations.
We found a lovely wood called Beacon Hill near Shepton Mallet but the best for bluebells was Greyfields Woods just down the road from us in the next village along towards Bath. Beautiful carpets of them.
As predicted I took far too many pictures, I've tried to select my favourite few but I'll try and make a mosaic of some more. I couldn't decided between the few that I've put in my comments and the one I've selected for my photo of the day. All are SOOC :)
trumpet marine
an instrument I had read about, but never seen. This single stringed instrument was made in France around 1700. Even though it is large, it produces a high note, by bowing the top of the neck, producing a sound like a muted trumpet.
