Il vincitore del Prix du Pubblic alle Victoires du Jazz 2009, il trombettista francese Patrick Artero, e il sassofonista tedesco Matthias Seuffert tornano a JazzAscona con una band ben rodata e un programma variegato, che spaziera nei grandi standard del jazz classico.
Swing di gran classe, dunque, per una formazione che presenta solisti affermati e ben noti al pubblico di Ascona, e che ha in Seuffert ed Artero due leader dalla forte personalita artistica, abituati a suonare assieme (l’inizio della loro collaborazione risale oramai al 2002) e in grado di esprimersi ai massimi livelli: Seuffert al fianco dei piu grandi nomi del jazz classico internazionale (Warren Vache, Harry Allen, Kenny Davern, Barney Bigard, ecc.); Artero, piu aperto ad influenze ad ampio raggio, con musicisti e gruppi di varia estrazione come Zouk Machine, Alpha Blondy, Toure Kounda, Stan Getz, Joe Farrell, Claude Bolling, Martial Solal, e con artisti di New Orleans (Don Vappie, e tanti altri), citta la cui musica rimane la sua vera passione e principale fonte di ispirazione.

French trumpeter Patrick Artero, winner of the Audience Award at the 2009 Victoires de la Musique contest in France, and German saxophone player Matthias Seuffert return to JazzAscona with a seasoned band and a varied program that explores the standards of classical jazz. The formation features well-established soloists, well-known to the Ascona audience. Seuffert and Artero both display strong artistic leadership. They have been performing together since 2002 and have a fantastic track-record: Seuffert has performed alongside some of the greatest international classical jazz musicians worldwide, such as Warren Vache, Harry Allen, Kenny Davern, and Barney Bigard, and Artero—who is open to different musical influences—has performed with more diverse groups such as Zouk Machine, Alpha Blondy, Toure Kounda, Stan Getz, Joe Farrell, Claude Bolling, and Martial Solal, as well as with New Orleans artists like Don Vappie. Stan Getz was one of the greatest tenor sax player in jazz history. His smooth, cool, fluid and melodic style is, for me, one of the epitome of cool sax =)
