Silver, like other precious metals, may be used as an investment. For more than four thousand years, silver has been regarded as a form of money and store of value. However, since the end of the silver standard, silver has lost its role as legal tender in the United States.

Pink Necklace
Necklace of hot-forged sterling silver and high-carbon steel, with black steel wire and pink beads. The small irregular round beads are high-fired terra cotta from Mexico; I don't buy many beads but couldn't resist the soft, earthy color on these. They have a beautiful speckled pink and white glaze. I carved the remaining four beads from various stones: The central front bead is a hematite-speckled agate (similar to "strawberry quartz" but translucent rather than transparent) carved from a pebble that I found. The two dark beads are a fine-grained deep purple volcanic rock (highly altered - mostly to hematite and clays). The central back bead is Peruvian pink opal from a batch of high-grade rough that a friend gave me. This material is actually a pink chalcedony with stringers of colorless and darker pink opal, as well as lots of tiny pits, crystal vugs etc. so it's a bit of a challenge to carve.
The central front bead is about half an inch in diameter.
Starfish on the Strands Necklace
A sterling silver starfish hands from this three strand necklace comprised of natural citrine, turquoise , and carnelian beads. (Isn’t this a great color combo!). The starfish is Hill Tribe Silver. I added sterling silver bead tips that I bought years ago but never found the right necklace to use them with--until now.
I have this necklace listed in my shop on Etsy. See my profile for the link.
