i needed to find something tonight. something in the news of late has been really disturbing me (something that made me bawl like haven’t in a long time, something that made me curse god like i haven't in a long time, and something that made me pray – also something i haven't done in a long time). so tonight i needed to find something else (from a long time ago) which is even more disturbing to me – because it hit so close to home.
i ventured into (*heavy music here*) my living room CLOSET!!! (*dread*).
i was only able to hit the surface of the first banker's box on top of a pile almost as tall as me. some of things i found in there:
•incense
•candles (tons of candles)
•a light bulb – just a regular one (i know i have a black one in there too)
•miscellaneous boxes of odd shapes and sizes and colors (i used to collect boxes)
•cue cards from my organic chemistry classes
•a monchichi doll
•a rubber kangaroo with a detachable baby kangaroo (also rubber)
•a real, genuine, functional hookah (+coal +apple tobacco), used only once because my friend who gave it to me is the only one who knows how to assemble the fucker
•two of the tackiest champagne goblets ever
•a jump rope
•letters from the one who was "the love of my life" (didn't read those)
•a snowman candle holder (seriously??? wouldn't it melt?)
•a piece of the berlin wall (for realz)
•some statements from DirectLoan for my student loans (now paid off...whew!)
•cassette tapes(!) of crowded house, b-52's, alphaville ("forever young" still? yup, jay-z just re-did it!), portishead, moloko, arrested development, etc...errrm, i don't even own a cassette player anymore
•expired film!!! or so i thought – it actually turned out to be sand from death valley in a film container that i opened excitedly and spilled all over the floor (yeah, i'm not cleaning that up tonight)
•unused checks from now-defunct checking accounts
•and these photos from when i was first trying to learn my canon ae-1 oh-so-long-ago
i never did find what i was looking for – but these objects made me laugh (most of these are gifts). shite, i have too much stuff! mind you, this was only the surface of first box in a pile of boxes almost as tall as me...four deep. anyone want some stuff? (along with a 2 lb. block of cheese and 2 qt. container of apple juice?). please?
