Precast Concrete Floor Slabs
- Steel or glass-fiber reinforced concrete cast in a mold.
- Precast Concrete is a construction product produced by casting concrete in a reusable mold or "form" which is then cured in a controlled environment, transported to the construction site and lifted into place. In contrast, standard concrete is poured into site-specific forms and cured on site.

The black-and-white photographs of the Farm Security Administration-Office of War Information Collection are a landmark in the history of documentary photography. The images show Americans at home, at work, and at play, with an emphasis on rural and small-town life and the adverse effects of the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and increasing farm mechanization. Some of the most famous images portray people who were displaced from farms and migrated West or to industrial cities in search of work. martin wagner @ 1st precast concrete slab colony in germany 2
now that is for all (at least) german architects and designers interesting:
this is the very first precast concrete slab colony in germany. designed by martin wagner in 1925-1926.
the colony has 2 light blue slabs as the head and then 2 streets with 2 storeys houses in a light red ( you will see more by switching through my stream).
by going through this small colony you feel you are in a different time.
the precast concrete slabs are mostly 7,50meter long.

konstruktion:
die platten wurden vor ort gegossen und dann mit einem portalkran aufgerichtet. die Rahmen fur Fenster und Turen wurden gleich in die Formkasten eingebracht. Die Aussenplatten erhieltne eine Aussenhaut aus wasserdichtem Kiesbeton, eine Isolierschicht aus Schlacke und eine Innenschicht aus nagelbarem porosem Schlackenbeton. Die Baumethode war jedoch unwirtschaftlich, da die Siedlung doch zu klein war.
