In Malibu, green cans are for plant waste, blue cans are for regular trash that cannot be recycled, and black cans are for anything that can be recycled.
Every week at this house,(of a very famous musician), there are 4 or 5 blue cans lined up and no black ones. Visible in some of the blue cans are always things that could have been recycled.

Saw this in a church parking lot in Howard County, MD. I think it's a type of fund raiser - fine with me if it gets more people recycling! I liked the colors and the graphics . . .
