Is this VW Engineering at its worst?
Weak pathetic puny hinges for such a large and long heavy door! The door must weigh about 25Kg (50+lbs). The hinge as we know takes the greatest force when open, the door is 128cm long! So did the engineers who designed this have any education? Im sure a child at elemenatry or primary school with no physics knowledge would have designed a better stronger hinge! The result is that the weight has worn the hinges down the door now violently jerks and clicks when it closes and is out of line. It wakes the neighbours up too! No wonder my door handle broke! Terrible design!
Oh and I went to the VW dealership and ordered replacement hinge pins, and what I got back was oil insertion nuts (used to cover the tiny hole on the hinge where you apply oil) apparently in VW language these are called hinge pins! The VW dealership refused to take them back or give me my money back for a part I did not need. Instead they said I should buy the whole hinge set which costs a fortune. That's VW customer service for you!
Hole case — Custodia per buco
I made a hole... but I don't know where to store it, so I had to build a hole case.
Jokes apart, I had a hinge pin (male) O 10 mm, and a hinge (female) O 14 mm. To avoid a rattling door, I took a scrap of 14 mm iron rod and drill it with a 10 mm bit, creating this sort of adapter.
The hole is not perfectly centered because the pin is very close to the wall.
Ho fatto un buco... ma non sapevo dove metterlo, quindi ho dovuto costruire una custodia per buco.
Scherzi a parte, avevo un cardine (maschio) O 10 mm e una cerniera (femmina) O 14 mm. Per evitare una porta dondolante ho preso un pezzo di tondino liscio da 14 mm e l'ho bucato con una punta da 10 mm, creando questa specie di adattatore.
Il buco non e perfettamente centrato perche il cardine e molto vicino al muro.
