Spinning Wheel & Yarn Winder
This spinning wheel and yarn winder has been in my family for many generations. An appraiser dated it in the 1710 area. He used the nails to determine this. One of the things I like about both pieces is that many years ago somehow one leg on each piece needed replaced so they used very old ladder backed chair legs. I use to get in trouble when I was a child when I would give the wheel a spin. Now a days I get to spin it any time I wish!. Someday I want to get it so it can actually spin wool.
Ebony Glen Studio Spinning Wheel
Simple Ashford wheel. Used for spinning my own yarns, but most often used for plying a variety of yarns together to create art yarn and novelties. I work primarily in natural fibers since I do a good deal of wet felting. The plastic bags on the right side of this photo holds yarn scraps and bits of clipped threads & fibers from other projects that I use in my art and embellishing. I throw almost nothing away. ;) Etsy store is Irrational Exuberance.
